It does for me. I used to be an agnostic, then my life took a turn for the worse and I thought "fuck it, God never helped me", and I went atheist. Now I've found that reading about God's wisdom and the words of the Prophet's (peace be upon them and their followers), makes me believe I'm not alone. A friend of mine said that Buddhism helped his life. How has faith aided your lives? (any religion except Scientology)

I don't have a religion. Any organized belief system CANNOT be trusted. I believe in God. Don't have a definition for it though. I am more of a spiritual person than religious.

The delusion of understanding helps those who feel empty. It makes people feel loved and secure. Religon is the main exploiter of this.

It connects people with the love and hope within themselves. It gives them a guide of how to live their life in a way of virtue.

All those who are helped by religion: Young children are helped by the image of a stork delivering babies and Santa rather than having to learn all about sex and money.

Religion is the same thing, but instead of sex or money it's mortality, metaphysics and politics.

A cradle of the human mind. One cannot forever live in a cradle.

That's what it is to you. To people of faith it is much much different. As a spiritual person myself I know it is more then a mechanism to baby people untill they are old enough to understand life and death.

I love the rituals of Catholicism, the mysticism of Buddhism, the exotic wonder of Hinduism. I'm really fascinated by religion, and I admit - in my darkest hour, I prayed. But I have never believed it is true... and on the whole, I'd prefer it not to be.

I was a Catholic (or rather my parents were Catholics) until I was about 12. Since I've become an atheist my life has improved, if anything.

in my mind Being atheist has help me many times. It tough me not to sell out, not to do what the crowd is doing and to look at things logically. Whenever i was feeling down i would go watch one of those "in gods hands" type shows and laugh my head of. but i doubt that you ment atheist as a religion which just shows how closed minded this world is.
