Now what really bothers me is how many of these polled were honest?

quote:"They like what he said about what's going on in Iraq and Afghanistan. Or about America and the Zionist conspiracy. But what he does, that's where you see the huge drop," said Obaid, referring to the bombings that had already begun taking place inside Saudi Arabia at the time the poll was conducted.

Now that's strange.

EDIT: Is this because he attacked Saud? Or because he attacks everybody? Or are they lying?

Any thoughts?

I keep telling people this and they keep telling me they thought saudis love the states. Even some of the ones living in the states on visas openly hate this country. This one of these "secret cause everyone assumed" secrets. Not news to me find the kuwaiti poll if you wanna see somthing trajic.

Really? You should check the more recent results showing an overwhelming majority of Sunni's have "somewhat or very disfavorable views" of al Queda.

No link, read it in dead tree AP yesterday.

I read in the Toronto Star that a majority of Muslims disapprove of 9/11. Nonetheless, Saudi Arabia is a brutally repressive, Wahhabi'ist state that uses state-sponsored hatred and terrorist sponsorship to divert their subjects attention from the deep-rooted corruption and economic mismanagement. They aren't even remotely an ally of the West.

As Muslims go, bin Laden is a heretic. Sane, thoughtful Muslims know this--I imagine many of them would be afraid to say so, however.

It's 2007 now, what are the current prevailing opinions? I doubt they've changed much, but I'd rather see a more up-to-date poll.

the really interesting poll would be: what acts are defined as "terrorism"

I gurantee you your going to see some scary results.

I believe their opinion has diminished, or so suggests recent PEW polls. What makes me wonder is Why? Why was it so high in the first place after 911? Was it because they believed the jews did it? (serioiusly) Or were they proud of al-quada for the attack?

Why has the popularity fallen? Does it have anything to do with OBL's recent failures or has their opinion of 911 changed?

Sure. Some muslims claim hes a heretic becsause he believes in suicide bombing because suicide is "haram". Some because they are shiit and he is sunni. Others because they are against killing innocent bystanders.

But how many disagree with him because they are peaceful? I know a few who condemn him, but others withold their comment.

FYI: as a person with extensive knowledge of Islam I can only say that muhammad may have a problem with the suicide bombing. If they used any other methods I gurantee he would be proud.

(Suicide bombing actually has a pretext in islamic scripture however it is still debatable)

It doesn't really matter if they're an ally. They'd never let al Queda use Iraq as a base to attack America. And thats what that whole war was about, right?
