Suppose there is a Christian who does good things throughout her life. It could be said that she is a good person. My question to you Christians is, would she have been any less of a good person if she had made all the same choices in her life, but without ever having believed in Christianity?

As long as someone believes in/practices love, they believe in Jesus. he talked about this with one of his disciples, concerning people who had never heard of him before.

I believe in/practice love and I certainly don't believe in Jesus.

Yes, in the eyes of a fictional character I do. In reality, I do not. http://www.totse.com/bbs/tongue.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/tongue.gif)

That's all subjective. You're as much a fictional character as Jesus is. http://www.totse.com/bbs/tongue.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/tongue.gif)

Oh boy.

Premise: Any cognitive state occurs as part of a set of cognitive states and within a cognitive system

Conclusion 1: It is impossible to get outside of all cognitive states and systems to survey the relationships between them and the reality they are used to cognize

Conclusion 2: No cognition is ever of a reality that exists independently of cognition

Conclusion 2 simply does not follow from its precedents.

Why is it impossible? Could not one reach a state of cognitive-not-cognitive thought through manipulation of the sub/unconcious?

I mean, when you really break it down, what is perception? http://www.totse.com/bbs/tongue.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/tongue.gif)

I don't believe in the subconscious.

Care to elaborate on why?

I don't need to, everything is subjective, remember. http://www.totse.com/bbs/tongue.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/tongue.gif)

Exactly why it's just another cult, and a really creepy one at that. It's all of these people out telling you the 'word of god' - there's this man that will love you endlessly, look over you and give you eternal life if only you will dogmatically believe in his existence and love him.

CREEPY!!

I never said you had to, just if you wanted to. Makes for easier/more indepth discussion.

It's a tad bit more complex, and a lot simpler than that, I'm afraid.

Maybe Jesus, along with myself - believe in Love, which is greater than both of us.

What if Love believes in Jesus and I?

What if Jesus, I, and Love all believe in each other?

What if..

Some would say they they burn in hell.

Others, that try to fit Christianity into their lives by changing doctrines... would say that they'll be just fine.

I do believe in Jesus the philosopher. I do not believe in Jesus the Messiah. Even if I practice love... how superficial of him to consider me a follower. When the fuck did that guy gain some monopoly over all human conditions?

What if love and jesus are both figments of your imagination, and you are just mentally jerking yourself off?
