My family have been catholics for awhile. My family is also very close friends with nuns and priests because my uncle almost became priest and that we just have always been religious Anyways a couple years ago my uncle received a statue of St. Anastasia a couple years ago. It is said that if you write a prayer asking for help or something and the statue drips oil then God has answered that prayer. I now have this statue I have seen oil on lots of these papers. Why does this happen and I thought i should bringit up

Amny statues exist that secrete oil, blood, water, etc. It's not known how or why it happens, though it is most prominant within the Catholic church. I had a guy come to my church once who had the stigmata and had this painting which secreted oil...I examined it for myself, and there's no way it could be faked...it was a fucking thin painting....nothing attached...quite strange. The only other statue I can think of which displayed similar properties was the state of Ganeesh (sp?) the half-elephant god of hinduism. Around India one year it began to DRINK milk if you put it to a statue's mouth...ANY statue of Ganeesh, it was a well documented event.

I don't know about that prayer answering theory, but I'd suggest you send a report into the Vatican to get it examined, they won't think you're nuts or anything because there are thousands of statues/paintings/other icons like that.

Break it open and look for oil.

No, this only proves there's no way you think it can be faked. Hand it over to a lab and let people who are qualified and trained in physical analysis, and see what they say.

From Wiki:

"Seeking to explain the phenomenon, scientists from India's Ministry of Science and Technology travelled to a temple in New Delhi and made an offering of milk containing a food colouring. As the level of liquid in the spoon dropped, it became obvious that after the milk disappeared from the spoon, it coated the statue beneath where the spoon was placed. With this result, the scientists offered capillary action as an explanation; the surface tension of the milk was pulling the liquid up and out of the spoon, before gravity caused it to run down the front of the statue"

Not that this made any difference to the gibbering idiots buying gallons of milk.

I won't believe any of these so called religious miracles until I see video evidence though. Theres that thing in Italy where the wine and eucharist in some Catholic church turned into flesh and blood. There's all this. When will there be video proof? When will there be some sort of credible source?

Well beast, there was nothing OBVIOUSLY wrong with the painting, but I agree, I'd love to see lab results. Not like it would change many minds bent on disproving things though.

As for the Ganeesh thing, I could see that being a possiblity. I heard they had a severe milk shortage in India that year...lol. Keep an open mind, you never know.

PS - The guy who came to my church wasn't looking for money or anything, in fact he DONATED to our church. The only thing he could possibly get was a huge ego trip...which I know sadly many people enjoy...(AHEM*kATE*AHEM)
