I saw part of a program that briefly described what JW's believe. The reason they opposed blood transfusions was interesting: it was because of Biblical law that forbid the drinking of blood. Blood isn't consumed orally in a transfusion for crying out loud!

ya its retarded. Here in canada there has been a few cases where Jehovah parents wont let there young children have blood tranfusions, resulting in there death.

Canada takes custody of the kids and gives them the medical help there guaranteed as a canadian citizen. Just recently some jehovahs has a set of quentuplits or whatever, i think it was 4 kids and they were all premature. 2 died because the parents wouldnt let them have blood tranfusions, and I'm pretty shur the health canada took control and is trying to save the last 2.

I think people should be aloud to do what they want, but these kids cant make decisions for themselves so i dunno.

The Canadian government can do things to it's subjects that would simply not be tolerated in the states.

I can see how the JW see blood transfusions as canibalism. You can take food interveinusly too. I still don't get the point of their religion. They believe you need to do something pretty bad to get sent to Hell and their is basicly no chance of getting into Heaven. You would think that they would want to enjoy life more.

Well, if any of you actually read the bible, you might come across these scriptures too...

Genesis 9:4 "But flesh (meat) with...blood...ye shall not eat"

Leviticus 17:12-14 "...No soul of you shall eat blood...whosoever eateth it shall be cut off"

Acts 15:29 "That ye abstain...from blood..."

Acts 21:25 "...Gentiles...keep themselves from things offered to idols and from blood..."

(I think there are more too)

ab·stain - To refrain from something by one's own choice

re·frain - To hold oneself back; forbear:

an antonym for abstain is take in.

Blood Transfusions are actually a risky thing(you should look up all the risks and dangers) and its hardly a guarantee "fix". JW's have actually helped develop alot of technologies to help in this field.

They can still recieve blood fractions, that's there choice, but believe recieving WHOLE blood is not acceptable in God's eyes (based on the scriptures)

___________

"They believe you need to do something pretty bad to get sent to Hell and their is basicly no chance of getting into Heaven."

umm...

They believe that Hell is not a place of torment. For most after you die, your DEAD. “The living are conscious that death will come to them, but the dead are not conscious of anything, ” (Ecclesiastes 9:5)But there is a resurrection after harmeggdon for those that have a earthly hope (Matthew 5:5—Meek Inherit the Earth) There is a limited number ruling in heaven. Everyone else gets to on earth, but with life restored to how it originally was.(Revelation 21:4 and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be [any] death; there will no longer be [any] mourning, or crying, or pain; those things have passed away.")

____

If you actually look into things and study history, you'd understand why they believe what they believe.

I see it as God's way of thinning the herd, weeding out a few religious nuts.

Blood transfusions are just one more part of the antichrist's plan to send us all to hell. Don't you see? If praying don't fix it, god don't mean for it to be fixed!

You know as an athiest I don't agree with them in any of their beleifs at all in fact I make a point to screw with them whenever they come ot my door.

HOWEVER

They actually are following the bible where as SO many other bible-based religions are just claiming to follow the bible and making up their own interpretations. And just "half-assing" it and claiming to be much more morally superior to me after taking a "holy document" and picking and choosing what they see fit and what they deem applicable to their lives. In other words they are all friday-night steak, hypocrites.
