You have civil rights down in the states. You can't just ban organisations because they believe bad things.

The Crips are more so of an organization than the KKK. They are just a gang with an anti-civil rights agenda. If they are an oganization, they are a terrorist one. You can very well ban an organization that DOES bad things!

Care to show some links to some KKK killings in the last 10 years? I suppose we should ban Islam while we are at it.
Here's one guy's creative interpretation:
quote:Negroes and the Bible
“Beast-Chayah-Negro The word beast appears throughout the holy scriptures and often appears as simple "Beast" or "Beast of the field" or "Beast of the earth" . Three different Hebrew words are translated into the English word BEAST in the Bible. The Hebrew word CHAYAH means living creature, the word BEHEMA means meaning quadrupeds (like cattle), and BEIR meaning BRUTE BEAST. The Greek word ZOON translated BEAST means LIVING CREATURE. In tracing this word down through the scriptures, it is important to note that the Bible speaks of both quadruped (four footed) beast and biped (two legged) beasts. If you have failed to distinguish between the beasts (quadruped) and beasts (biped) in the Holy Bible, you have missed a great deal of truth. We are concerned with the Hebrew word CHAYAH, which means LIVING CREATURE, and which we feel refers to the following biped (two legged) beasts. As you study the following scriptures and provide an answer to each question, perhaps the full implications of the Bible biped beast will become more clear to you. It is interesting to note that in all these scriptures we find reference to a BEAST that is apparently biped (two footed) and who can talk, riot, commit adultery, co-habit with man, work in the vineyards, use his hands, wear clothing, cry unto his creator and sow his seed with other races. Those who have clearly traced this Hebrew word CHAYAH through the scriptures under the English word beast, know it is speaking of the NEGRO ! If this truth were known and taught from the pulpits of our American churches, it would stop the mad race toward racial suicide and mongrelization of the races dead in its tracks. Was Joel speaking of a "beast" or field hand in Joel 2:22 ? What kind of a beast do you know of that wears clothing (sack cloth) as we read in Jonah 3:8 ? What kind of a beast has hands as reported in Exodus 19:13 ? What type of beast is capable of mixing or "sowing" his seed with the "seed of Adam" as described in Jeremiah 31:27 ? What kind of a male beast could a woman lust after and "lie down thereto" and cause God to have them executed in righteous judgment? Leviticus 20:16 What kind of a female beast could a man lust after and cause a penalty of death to be decreed by God? Leviticus 20:15 What kind of beast would have the ability to "keep the vineyard" as we find in the Song of Solomon, chapter 1 , who incidentally was black? What kind of a beast "cries mightily unto God" in Jonah 3:8-10 ? What kind of a beast would have "eyes full of adultery" as recorded in 2nd Peter 2:12-14 ? What kind of a beast loves to "riot in the daytime"? 2nd Peter 2:12-14 What kind of a beast can "talk" or "speak" ? 2nd Peter 2:12 What kind of a beast was made to" be taken and destroyed? 2nd Peter 2:12”

You cant make joining an organization illegal. Someone has to actually do something against the law. Thats partly why the kkk isn't deemed as large of a threat as it was decades ago.
Honestly, most people don't take the klan seriously anymore. I don't know the stats for sure, but the last time I heard anything about them they had like 3 thousand members who were diversified among unorganized little groups in the south. The kkk today is really just a dying version of the once-formidable organization.

Well they have freedom of speach and whenever they do somthing arrest worthy they should be in jail like the rest of would go.
Its really more about southern sherrifs being stupid and or cowardly than it being a legal issue.
lol@ the south...

Surely you don't support the KKK. If not, then do you really think that America should wait for killings to happen before they try to stop what is clearly a hate-crime-in-progress? The KKK might not be cross burning in yards or lynching black people in trees these days, but all that shows is that they have evolved with the times and are being more "PC" in the spreading of their Hate Propaganda. Let these subtleties go unpunished, and eventually it will boil over to violence again.
You can compare it to Islam if you want to, but you should first research the documented cases IN THE U.S. of hate crimes performed under the guise of Islam, and then compare it to to the documented cases IN THE U.S. of hate crimes committed by the KKK. One list will be as long as your leg. The other will be relatively short, in comparison.

They have a new cause to champion these days: Immigration Issues

You cannot prosecute people for using or agreeing with politically unpopular speech or joining with others who are like minded. You cannot have one set of laws for those opinions you like and a different set for those you despise...

I'm not prosecuting anyone, nor am I petitioning for the KKK to be "banned" by law from assembling. My post was to point out two things:
1) The KKK and Islam is an unfair comparison
and:
2) Hate crimes should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and the law shouldn't wait until there are black people hanging from trees again before they start taking it into serious investigation.
The general consensus was: "KKK is no longer active". And I provided a link that might suggest otherwise.

Agreed, the "preventive" aspect of the whole thing got me going.

So -
Law Enforcement shouldn't be aware of any recent activity of KKK members? Is that what you're saying? They should just erase the memory of the violent history the KKK has had over time and chalk it up to: "well, there haven't really been any lynchings lately..."?!
I have seen Minority Report, and I am NOT suggesting that law enforcement go out and arrest KKK members just on the grounds of crimes they may or may not commit in the future, based on their past.
But to just wipe the KKK off their radar completely just because there haven't been any killings recently - would be ignorant.
This whole immigration issue in America is refueling groups like the KKK. I suppose law enforcement should just wait until there are dead mexicans hanging from trees before they start taking the KKK seriously again as a hate group.
No one is suggesting that Law Enforcement not look into possible criminal activity. But Law Enforcement cannot just go "willy nilly" into investigating groups simply because their ideas are politically unpopular. Such a thing smacks of McCarthyism and does not belong in a free society. All groups have a right to disseminate their ideas and opinions free from government intrusion… all groups.

Did I suggest that law enforcement run 'willy-nilly' with their investigation of Hate Groups? My original position here was that the KKK hasn't stagnated, and are still considered dangerous to society(as any Hate Group well should be). The only thing I can see that I wrote that might be taken out of context was this:

I should have written "uninvestigated" rather than punished.
