Why do people feel they need religion? Please, enlighten me, if you can.

In GOD DELUSION Richard Dawkins draws the same parallel, crusades, middle east, etc.
As a child growing up in Bosnia during the Yugoslav Wars, I can honestly say I hate organized religion. I don't hate God per se, but I feel religion should happen between YOU and GOD, no median. If there's a priest or imam or whoever influencing your view of God, it all goes to hell.
Religion is fine as a personal endeavor, organized religion is the root of many problems in society. I saw over 3 countries go to war because Catholics, Christian Serbs and Muslims all hated each other, even though 60 years ago we were all unified against hitler, and Tito encouraged spreading love.
Under Tito we had a paradise, under divided religions we killed each other.

I would recomend asking a religous person that question and not just a religious forum on a predominantly atheist site.

Wow, Argon - that's the most intellectually honest thing I've ever seen you post concerning religion.
Maybe if more people could regard it as a natural phenomenon and a by-product of adaptation, instead of a black & white, guy-in-the-sky dictatorship of human morals, humanity might actually reconsider killing one another over who is worshipping the correct God.
