What sort of out of the ordinary weird things related to radio or the technology involved have you lot heard of?

Im also interested in if there's anything cool or simple you can make at home?

one of the most fascinating things about radio and electronic waves is their ability to detect what they are encountering.

we usually look at it from the reverse however.

machines that detect metal (those things old men use on the beaches) and items deep in the earth seem to be quite an untapped science...as it applies to our everyday living.

i know there is x-ray, but there seems to be something that is either not invented yet or not wide spread knowledge, where this type of technology can help detect literally anything.

as far as projetcs, just hooking an antenna or wire to the input of your soundcard using spectrum analysis software can be quite a treat.

if you set it up right you can see the results on the screen when you move your hand in front of the wire (without even touching it!).

i'm not sure, but i'm guessing that the wire is detecting the electromagnetic forces from your body.

also find an old radio with transisters large enough to play with.

measure the current, voltage and resistance to learn how the different parts interact and their importance in the whole picture.

electronics, to me, is JUST like a software program. and if you look at the bottom of the breadboard it looks just like the map of a city.

it all looks much more complicated, then it is.

and if you break the radio, you'll have a new project ;)

(thats why you should use an old one or one you don't care about, or is broke already).

Interesting stuff thanks, whats that thing i once heard about getting a certain length of wire and a box to make a radio and speaker out of it? was ages ago so im not sure if its actually true or not.

Is there any other weird stuff? like what can or has been heard on radio? i know of number stations and many weird sounds but anything interesting.
