Any recommended channels for a beginner like me to play around with it? I'm looking around for help, but all i can find is how to tune into Weather frequencies. Lame. Anything fun?!

cb usually is not very busy. try channel 9 which is suppose to be for emergancies, but alot of jerks talk on it anyway.
i think the truckers still use 14 & 19 alot too.
if you have it set up correctly you should be able to pick up longer than the 70 mile usual limit.
let us know.

Right across the street is a trucking "outpost" of sorts. Its a morningstar plant, with trucks going and leaving at all times of the day. I was hoping to listen in, maybe chat it up some with them, and i was wondering which channels to try. Thanks for the pointers, i'll report back!

Nope. That information is only provided on the truck's Bill of Lading.

You are going to need an SWR meter to calibrate it. Well, you don't need to, but it really helps. And consider getting a better antenna. My friend has a Fire Stik and they are supposed to be pretty good.
I just installed my totally shitty Fanon Fanfare CB in my truck the other day because I'm planning on heading out for some light off-roading in the spring and it's always good to have one for that.
I'm up in Canada and channel 19 and channel 1 are the only channels I've noticed anyone using. 19 seemed to be truckers.
Then again, my CB sucks so perhaps it's having reception and transmissions issues, I'll be doing better tests later.
I bought it for $5 about 8 years ago. If I find it really does suck, I might dump some dollars in a new one.
As for finding active channels, just channel surf.

Cb huh? I wanna say welcome to the 80s, but im nice. :)
Seriously though, just use your scanning button often. I pick up on some nice conversations with that.

Funny story. On a regular walkie talkie i picked up 3 hot chicks that lived a block down. Badass time to turn it on.
also around halloween all the haunted houses use wlkie talkies, mainly ch 1 or 4.
not cb but oh well

yeah because that's not like inviting some psychopathic trucker to come and rape/kill you

I remember picking up the local city bus on my walkie talkie when I got them.
It's one of those Cobra ones that has 23 channels, and 99 lock codes a channel.
If I wanted, I'm sure I could manually scan each lock code until I found something juicy...
I also remember getting the Cuvlers construction site on them too, and talk a bunch of shit till they were like "All emplyees report to meeting station for channel change.."
