I recently acquired a Realistic PRO-64 Handheld radio scanner. It was discontinued in 1998. This particular scanner uses a battery case that slides into a compartment on the bottom to provide power to the scanner. The case held 6 AA batteries. I happen to be missing this case. Would I be able to find a 6 AA battery holder from something else, and rig it up so it will work in this scanner?

you might find one at radio shack or another electronics store.
or just fashion one.. just make sure you get the polarity correct.
i'm not sure but i think i used to have one of those.. the one i had, had several different buttons marked for air, ems, etc...
if it is the same one, or similar, then you may be in for a real treat.. and be able to pick up portable fons pretty easy.. although i was only (usually) able to pick up one side at a time.
however i also got cells (both sides of convo).
nice catch
