There is a wireless ISP ten miles from my house, but it wont reach out here. I was thinking of using my satellite dish as an antenna, since it's on a ten foot high pole. Would it work? And if so, how would I go about hooking it up?

It might work, but I wouldn't count on it. It's probably not designed for the frequency range used for 802.11. For all I know it could be totally transparent to the range, or the dish might absorb radiation over the whole range. I'm not an expert, though.
There are parabolic reflectors specifically designed for 802.11. IIRC, the world record for range was around 80 miles.

If it is a wireless isp, then the signal should be able to reach that far... They said I couldent get it also, but guess what... I run a server on it now.
Go there, and ask them for a outdoor box. They usually get alot more signal.

i think all you have to do is ge a long usb cord and a wifi usb dongle
tape the donger to the part that sticks out on the dish
i was told this worked
ill try it as soon as i get my dongle to work
