I'd like to censor religion.

If there is a god, he's done nothing for me and he's as much of a cunt as the next person.

Fuck God.

What would America be like if God was banned from our culture?

The truth is, it’s already happening.

These words convey the seriousness of the legal attack we face in America. As you review the presentations created for television, radio, and print media, consider the fact that tomorrow's religious freedom may very well depend on the actions we take today to protect it.

"The rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of @!%."

"Free at last! Free at last! Thank @!%, we are free at last!"

"If we ever forget that we're one nation under @!%, then we will be a nation gone under."

What if God was banned from our culture? The truth is, it's already happening...

ACLU files to remove 10 commandments

Cross memorial under fire

Christmas displays removed

visit myreligiousrights.org and keep our faith from being silenced!!!

No, it's not. Your faith isn't being silenced, but there's this little thing called separation of church and state, therefore the 10 commandments should not be on governmental property.

This isn't about faith being silenced, this is about extremist Christians wanting to spread their sovereignty.

quote:"If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."

Prove it, you scare-monger.

Prove this too.

He is, but sadly idiots actually think like him.

I agree entirely. There should be complete separation of church and state.

I think we need to see the difference between censorship and separation of church and state. I'm an atheist but if you want to read a bible during recess then go for it. If you want to wear a Christian t shirt then go for it. If you want to read about how to distill alcohol during recess then you should be able to as well. If you want to wear a shirt that says "Fuck Bush" then you should be able to. Preventing that is censorship.

One BIG problem I have is that they complain about being told not not to wear a Christian shirt. Guess what? That doesn't compare to Christian cults standing outside your University with signs that say "You will burn in Hell" and "God hates you." Or like in that movie Dogma, the people standing outside the abortion center swearing at the women going in.

Compared to what the Christian cults do, what the ACLU does means nothing.

The ACLU confuses me. They go for personal freedoms and shit like that, but not the freedom of speech of religious people? And why does the ACLU support Affirmative Action? I figured they would be all "Noo, we need equality." Meh, the ACLU has done some good stuff but it seems like they only do things that support their own personal interests not Civil Liberties as a whole.

Treaty of Tripoli article 11:

"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."

Also, if you look on the two main documents that founded America, (Declaration of independence and the constitution),there is nothing about Christianity or Christian principles in them. (The "creator" mentioned was a reference to the Deist Creator, not the Christian god)

Other notes: The motto "In God we trust" was adopted in 1956, and "Under God" was added the pledge of allegiance in 1954.

Once again, a Theist demonstrates a total inability to understand simple logical constructs. Colour me surprised. http://www.totse.com/bbs/rolleyes.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/rolleyes.gif)

quote:Free exercise of religion is the first and most fundamental right of Americans protected in the Bill of Rights. It is the most basic and inalienable of all human rights.

However, the right to freely exercise one's faith has never been more threatened in our nation than it is today. And the rights of Christians are especially vulnerable.

That also means i have the right to stand outside a church screaming fuck god and burning bibles!
