Ok, so most of America is Christian, or at least claim to be.

If there are so many Christians, then why aren't there any people who can do what Jesus did? Walk on water, heal the sick, blind, schizophrenic...etc. I recall somewhere in the bible where Jesus said something about (and I am not quoting this exactly) "You have the ability to do anything I do, if you would just have faith."

So then why in the world are these bible-thumpers not doing absolutely anything Jesus has done... I mean as soon as I see someone walk on water in front of many people, heal someone who is dying in a hospital, and the like, I will never believe in Christianity.

Proof of a false religion? Proof of altered literature? Who knows?

I am just tired of people thinking that Christianity is absolutely true, and nothing else matters. It's almost sad how these people have blind faith in something that obviously doesn't work. All these scams and the lot, the 700 club and all the BS... urgh.

I'm sure this topic has been overdone...

People ignorance of the Bible and then posting about it will never cease to amaze me.

Regardless of whether or not you think Christianity is valid, nothing in Christian scripture says that people besides Jesus are supposed to be able to walk on water...

That, and a lot of Christians take the Bible's stories with a grain of salt.

12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have

been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going

to the Father.

MAR 9:23 "'If you can'?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for him who

believes."

17:6 He replied, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can

say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it

will obey you.

Mark 16:18. They shall take up serpents: and if they shall drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them. They shall lay their hand upon the sick: and they shall recover.

This is jesus's last words before he rose into heaven according to this part of the bible. Talking about why people should remember and be like him.

Who was the guy who got a bunch of christians together who believed what the bible was saying here and they all drank poisened cool aid?...... Ya they all died.

Boozehound420, You have a good point.

On a side note, I just seen this on the news. "Holy Water" drinking water is now in circulation. http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/news-article.aspx?storyid=77318

When will this end? Christianity has been getting so commercial and downright retarded. Sinners beware of the actual "Holy Water" That is being sold for consumption. http://www.totse.com/bbs/rolleyes.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/rolleyes.gif)

I'm workin' on 'em.

I prayed for the ability to communicate with animals, and sure enough, it certainly seems as if we can understand eachother, to a degree more than usual. Although really it's just an extreme form of empathy.

which is all telepathy is.

but really, "paranormal" abilities requires intense dedication and concentration, something 99% of Americans lack, including me. http://www.totse.com/bbs/frown.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/frown.gif)

PS: if that holy water isn't a wine/hash oil mixture it sure as hell isn't holy.

Perhaps no-one has anyt real faith any more. I mean, when you have a guy walking on water, healing people, and rising form the dead, when he tells you that you can do some of this shit, you're gonna be more likely to believe him. But who has any real faith anymore? I always feel that most of the chrstians I know have a kind of hollow faith, it doesn't seem to be really faith at all, just a kind of hope.

Of course, you'd have to assume these badass super-powers actually work. I wish they did http://www.totse.com/bbs/frown.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/frown.gif)

OP is wrong on several counts. For one thing, Jesus never walked on water--that anecdote only appeared in one of the "gospels," and the guy who wrote it was delusional.

There are many people who can heal the sick and so forth. Jesus himself said--and I think this is one quote that IS valid--that all these things I have done, ye shall do also--all these and more.

Sweet.

I think.

But in anycase I mean that while people believe in God they don't truly believe that God could do anything for them.

Of course, if you can do some totally cool God shit, teach me http://www.totse.com/bbs/biggrin.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/biggrin.gif)

heal the sick.. only with an abundance of medical understanding and modern technology. I find it hard to believe that there have been no more miracles since bible days, what happened? God got tired or something?

There was also a darwin award winner who proclaimed that in order to enable a better understanding of God they attempted to walk on water. This particular individual slipped in the bathtub and killed himself.

Talk about getting close to God.

I walk on water every day--up here, however, we call it "ice."
