I've started to get an interest in CB.

I have this old Fanon Fanfare 330 installed in my truck right now and it works... mostly. I mean reception works. I've never actually verified if transmissions works, but I suspect it does.

Anyways, the questions is whether or not I should invest in something newer, more reliable and that gets better reception?

I love the old fanfare but I have a feeling it's range is rather limited and it never really get that clear of reception.

But on the other hand, I'm not sure if I could get enough real use out of new radio to warrant such a purchase...

Gah.

One of the main reasons I want to get into CB is because I'm also getting into some offroading (starting out light) and I know that a bunch of the other guys that head out run CBs too, it's a good way to get help out on the trails if you're totally fucked somewhere.

It's also just plain fun.

So yeah.

Anyone have advice or even general comments for me?

If you want to get a newer CB, they now come with AGC (audio contrast) so its easier to hear. Ive never tried a CB with that feature though so maybe someone else can ellaborate on it.

Only an old Realistic, which I hardly use anymore, yet still works perfectly.
