View Full Version : Wasteful things you do.

I have the Air conditioner on in my house set at 17 degrees celsius all day and night. Becuase that's how I like it.

(Though they do he exact same thing at TAFE and it drives me absolutely off the fucking hook)

I also waste food like nobody's business, and I only drink about 9/10 of anything before throwing it out. This is usually beer in stubbies, which I throw on the road.

I also waste a FUCK load of paper. I can't stand imperfections in my paper, so I'll just doodle and shit around, then rip the page out and throw it away or burn it, depending on location.

I also like to gather things such as leaves from autumn up into a big pile and put them in the middle of my punji pit/retard trap, then tip petrol over them and light them on fire. I usually like to do this at night when I'm high as a kite. Always blazin' you know.

But in comparison to your everyday man, I save the fucking biggest heap of waste and energy ever. I naturally put most rubbish in the bin, as if by reflex. I just don't like seeing rubbish and filth around the place. I also ALWAYS shut doors and turn lights off and taps off etcetera. Annoying middle aged mother type things.

Glad someone made this.

Anyhow I made one of these quite some time ago. Anyway for me it's electrical appliances...I have so many plugged in at the same time. Other then that Im pretty good.

Also everyone, try including things like watching motor sport because you enjoy watching it but you really know it's not the best thing for the environment.

i tend to leave my computer on all day. and i probably have the fridge door open for too long, just looking. luckily it's the type that beeps after 30sec of being open.

hmmm... my ten minute showers are probably not a great thing considering the lake near my house that i spent my childhood years playing around is now gone. it just dried up. damn drought.

i'm pretty good in terms of paper usage, which is huge as a student. i either type things (no paper at all!!) or write on both sides of the sheet etc.

petrol is bad though. i drive to uni 4 days a week, 20 minutes each way, alone. i used to carpool, but it's a hassle with different starting/finishing times. i'd bus, but it takes three times as long.

Well, I live off of the energy grid. I blow up mountains and mine my own coal. And since I love Christmas so much, I turn down my house temperature to a brisk 32F all summer long.

Leaving the TV on standby and the huge amount of paper I have to use for Uni. Apart from that, I think I'm doing OK.

I take public transport into the city instead of driving (mostly because I can never find a park),we have no airconditioning to waste electricity on and I take short showers (as the shower head is shit.)

I also have to turn the toilet off at the tap and flush it only when it really needs to be as our toilet leaks.

I'm not really a good little enviromentalist as most of this is a result of things that arn't really under my control.

My computer has been on for years non stop, other then the few power outages and i my moniter goes off at night.

At work when taking out some garbage i routinly throw carboard in the garbage and metal in the carboard bin. Even know there side by side.

I throw garbage out my car window routinly, its a natural reaction. Garbage in hand, out the window.

I've realised, aside from computers and guitar amps, and like, reciepts from buying shit, and all the food i eat, i leave no footprint on this planet. I'm like, a ghost man. I'm like, a cool breeze through the palm tree fronds on a hot summers night man. I'm like, passin though or something

Seriously, i should be one of those sandal / poncho clad hippies who play acoustic guitar all day and bitch about the planet like peter garret.

I drive a land yacht (screw you, Honda!)

I don't think my computer has ever been off for more than the second between shut down and restart.

I take long, warm, relaxing showers.

i probably do a lot of good stuff just cuz im a cheapass

i longboard (skateboard) everywhere, only cuz i cant afford a car rightnow. otherwise i carpool, which is good for nature they tell me.

i march around the cafeteria and swoop on leftovers and uneaten food, because it saves hella money.

i get like 5+$ of free food every lunch time.

i dumpster dive and get free shit.

i use old stuff peopel are about to throw away.

in general, i love free stuff.

incidentally, i end up with a lot of organic /environmentally friendly shit cuz i "shop" at trader joes, cuz it doesnt have cameras.

im not bragging, its just hilarious how free = not wasteful

Shit loads of electrical appliances plugged in: 3 computers running 24/7, bunch of TV's, fridge door left for a while, lights constantly on.

I don't think it's that bad.

I split my one load of laundry into multiple loads because my washer and dryer are kind of energy efficient. I leave a lot of lights on all the time; some I shut off at night. I leave the water running while I brush my teeth. I take long showers. I idle my car for a few minutes before I drive it even though all the assholes say it doesn't matter anymore with modern engines. I don't recycle anything. I love littering while I'm driving.

i drive a carburetted v8 that's out of tune so it spews raw fuel out the back.

i make fires with petrol, plastic and any flammable chemical i can find.

I leave my computers on 24/7, have screens go to sleep after 5 min of inactivity. with all my computer junk running, I use about 300 watts (3 amps at 100 v ac).

I take 10-15 min hot showers, I sometimes throw recycling in garbage.

hell, I live, is that not wasteful?

so what this thread sucks get a life BITCHES!!!!!!!!!

Get the fuck out.

I guess the most wasteful thing I do is driving for fun, rather than need. Although that's mostly on motorbike, which is more efficient than car. I can make 2 wasted journeys and still 2 useful ones before I've used as much gas as a car for one of those trips.

I have a habit of leaving computers on, BUT...

I always turn monitors off when I'm not actively looking at them. Compulsively.

The monitor uses a large proportion of the power of a computer. Especially if it's a CRT jugonaut.

So if you're gonna leave 'em on, at least turn the screen off.

I leave my PC on all day, even when it's not being used. I do however always turn the screen off, and turn all my electrical stuff off at night.

I leave TVs and Hi-fis and things on slandby, and lights on sometimes. I leave the tap on when i'm brushing my teeth or washing my face, but I automatically turn off any tap I see that's dripping (or try to lol) it's weird.

I have baths mostly instead of showers, and when I do shower I take like 15 minutes or more.

I throw away plastic packaging and stuff that doesn't get recycled by the council, even though technically there's probably a bin somewhere for the stuff.

I waste paper that could be recycled sometimes.

Generally I don't think i'm "too" bad though...

Blasphemous bastard!!!!

I leave my computers on constantly. I sleep with the lights on as I'm scared..not of the dark but what hides in it. I use my electric heater an awfull lot for the simple fact it's the only source of heat in my appartment. I use the tumble dryer rather than hang clothes up to dry because outside they get stolen and inside they make mould.
I dont recycle because I dont have the room, and the landlord wont get recycling boxes as they are 'unsightly'.

I'm scum.

But I do keep plastic bags and re-use them and I'm saving up for solar panels ontop of my apparment.

Well, I barely use the computer anymore. I've started to stray away from it, ironically I'm typing this. So the computer is hardly on, probably three hours a week its on. TV is hardly on anymore. I've used rain water all my life so it gets collected from the gutters and goes through about seven different filters for different things. So I can take as many baths for as long as I fucking wish. I've never bought a new car and don't plan to, ever because new cars are too fucking expensive. I go to the junk yards and scavenge parts like motors, transmissions, differentials, anything I want for any project car lying around. I litter like its going out of style, which funny enough I threw half a blueberry slushy out the window and hit a cops windshield. Dead dinosuars are fun for starting fires and a 496 chevy big block drinks like tara reid on spring break; so does the ford f150 4x4 with the 460 big block. I drive just cause I like to, even without a need. Right now it sorta counteracts each other but who gives a shit anyway? Were gonna be dead long before its starts getting worse unless your into the reincarnation shit.

Right now it sorta counteracts each other..

I find that. I dragged a crate of empty wine bottles up to the recycling centre to do my bit.. and came home to find I'd forgotten to turn of my stero, computer, or any of the lights.

It's like buying healthy organic vegetables and then frying them up with cheese and peanut butter.
