quote: MSNBC (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17655224/)
“This war, from a Christian point of view, is morally wrong — and was from the beginning,” the Rev. Jim Wallis, founder of Sojourners/Call to Renewal, one of the event’s sponsors, said toward the end of the service to cheers and applause. “This war is ... an offense against God.”
In his speech, the Rev. Raphael G. Warnock, senior pastor at Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church, lashed out at Congress for being “too morally inept to intervene” to stop the war, but even more harshly against President Bush.
“Mr. Bush, my Christian brother, we do need a surge in troops. We need a surge in the nonviolent army of the Lord,” he said. “We need a surge in conscience and a surge in activism and a surge in truth-telling.”
Until now, except at Coretta Scott King's funeral, religious icons and congregations in the media have always been portrayed to be for this war. They usually are seen siding with the Republican Party's platform of "fight them over there, not over here". There is no doubt that the religious in the media have been preaching political agendas in the last few decades. I'm just suprised to actually see them get it right for once on war.
They've been getting it right on abortion and marriage, but almost never have I seen them get it right on war. I've usually seen them ignore Jesus' "turn the other cheek", to advocate assasinations of foreign leaders and invasions of foreign countries. And their flocks actually buy their anti-Chrisitan views. Maybe because it is not a requirement to read the actual Bible and the story of Jesus to be a Christian.
*Opps... just realized I shouldn't have put an apostraphy on the plural Christians.

What about the Old Testament? God endorsed several wars, especially wars Israel fought.

BAH!
Everybody knows the only parts of the Old Testament Christians care about are the ones that condemn homosexuality. Everything else got thrown out the window.

The theological implications of war is not a discussion for this forum. It belongs in My God Can Beat The Shit Out of Your God.

To the OP, don't bother correcting your grammar mistakes unless you're going to correct all of them. http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif)

Except the Christians today ignore the Old Testament, because it allows them to live a little bit like atheists while still clinging to their silly idea about going to heaven after they die.

I thought the main rules of the Christian doctrine today were Pauline and Lukian.

If Christianity were soley based on the teachings of Jesus, then the Old Testament is to be just as valid as the the New. However, Christians like to place a lot of focus on the "Jesus came here not to change the Law but fulfill it" combined with Paul's letters and Epistles. Because of the fact that Jesus said follow the old Law yet contradicted himself in action, Christian's probably think they can contradict the old Law also.

So... how exactly did Jesus contradict the Law?

The Law stated that there should be money changers at the Temple for travelers and such. Last I read, Jesus ran up in that place like he was a pimp and all them hoes owed him money.
The Law seems to also state that there is no working on the Sabbath. I think we remember how well he kept that Law. Nigga came up into some huts and started healing mutha fuckahz. Dude tells him, "Aye! Nigga, you cant be doin that shit on the Sabbath! Watz wrong wit your ass, homey? You want God to bring da pain?" Then Jesus replies, "WTF did you just say to me, hoe? You best recognize."

You are an idiot of the hihest caliber. It is one thing to misunderstand scripture, but it is quite another to make up bullshit on the spot.
Nowhere in scripture does it mandate or even suggest there be moneychangers in the Temple.
Fact is, Jews being Jews, they decided to make some money by shortchanging customers when they gave them Temple money or sacrificial animals.
If you even bothered to read Jesus' response, he said the Temple was not a business.
Alas it does me no good in this forum. Everyone wishes to believe the bullshit they have been spoonfed since birth about stereotypes in religion. Everyone has questions, but never wishes to hear the answers. You cover your ears when you hear the truth so that you may blindly deride religion. You cloud your mind when a religious person reasons with you only to tell them they are the insane one.
You people make it very difficult for me to continue here.

Sadly, many people don't understand their own religion. I wish it were a requirement that before any zealots go spouting off their beliefs on gays/war/abortion/suicide/etc. that they have to read their religions book from cover to cover. Christian or not it's a shame many people haven't read one page out of the book.

I get frustrated too, sometimes, but there is no use complaining and sighing about it. How the hell did you think Jesus felt?

Who said it was a business? The establishment of the money changers came to be because travelers would come with money that had graven images of pagan Gods. God said, "Now you hook nosed mutha fukaz know, I can't be havin no graven images and absolutely no other Pagan bitch Gods up in my Temple."
To which the future Bankers of the world replies, "Awww shyt YHWH. You know we know that you know that we know wazzz up. Hell jyeah we'll juss start changing people's moniez into our currency. To make the Temple all good and shyt."
But then Jesus comes along with the, "I'm Jeeeeesus bitch. Mutha fucka. Dont you know who I am? I'm Jesus bitch. Get that mutha fuckin money outta mah face, bitch. Get out of my way John. Mutha fucka, I got some business to handle."
... and so it was written.
