First off I think it's an absolute joke. The bible is in no way a definitive list of morals that applies to today's society. It holds no place in an argument over controversial social issues such as abortion or gay marriage. If anything the bible values the life of a fetus much lower than that of a living person.

Exodus 21:22-25: "And if men struggle with each other and strike a woman with child so that she has a miscarriage, yet there is no [further] injury, he shall surely be fined as the woman’s husband may demand of him; and he shall pay as the judges decide. But if there is any [further] injury, then you shall appoint as a penalty life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise."

By the logic that Pro-Lifers and Anti-Gay marriage advocates use, we should put all women in their place. They need to be subservient to their men, and must not say a word in church. We should also bomb Pork Processing plants, and delis. I propose that we stand in the deli section of the supermarket and harass every person who buys pork, because thats the Christian thing to do. In the old testament pork is forbidden to be eaten. This one law is often ignored by bible thumping Christians. This doesn't keep them from selectively reading the rest of the book to further "assumed" Christian morals.

Lets get the fundamentalism rolling. Lets go and burn some J.C. Penney's to the ground for selling wool cotton blends.

And in Acts 10 Peter has a vision where impure creatures (Ther are a lot more besides pigs) parade in front of him, and he is commanded to kill and eat the impure animals. He refuses to kill or eat them because they are pure. He is rebuked being told, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean." To be fair this part is more to grant acceptance on the Gentiles, but I guess we can use it here.

I'm sure you know the comeback to the eye for an eye line.

And while I can't find it now, there is a part where Jesus says that it is not neccesary to restrict oneself from things unless they strengthen faith, thus you could argue that it is not neccesary to restrict the kind of clothing you wear if it has no effect on your faith. I don't think that this would be too bad, it doesn't contradict any of the ten commandments, nor Jesus's own commandments.

Still, I'm sure you're going to accuse me of cherrypicking. Well. I am.

Yes im saying you have invalid points because you need to use the rest of Bible as context and know what they ACTUALLY meant when they said it because our translation is much different from people's long ago translation.

If their argument is that all life is sacred and only God can choose when it ends, then yes, I agree with you, it is mind bending. If, however, their view is that you cannot kill a child because it is an innocent, but you can kill a criminal because it is just the opposite, then I think being anti-abortion and pro-death-penalty is non-contradictory (however, it should lead to an infinity regress of each executioner being executed).

I heard all of this information a long time ago but i remembered(for lack of better term) the meat of what the man said he reaserched it for years i think he knows what he is talking about.I would give you the name of the person but it would do no good.I dont understand why you assume i have no proof of my point.
