Prision should be build upon the idea of rehabilitation of "bad" people, and confinment of people that can not(if you belive it) be rehabilitated.

Shouldn't hell be the same way? If you're sent to hell for murder, but while you're in hell you are truely sorry for what you did, will God let you into heaven? What if you sin and your sorry, but before you can ask for forgiveness you're killed? What about in hamlet when the king (fuck i cant remeber his name) was killed while he was asking for forgivness?

What about Moses and Abraham? Did they go to hell becuase they didn't belive in Jesus (even though he wasn't around yet)?

Wasn't there some christian belif that if your body is burnt then you can't go to heaven?

Lets discuss hell http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif)

Mormons have a temporary hell where you are given a second chance to repent after some time in hell.

Also some Muslims believe in a temporary hell too.

Buddhism and Hinduism all also have a temporary hell(s).

Form my understanding of the major religions its its a large number of muslims, Christians, and some Jews who believe in a permanent hell.

There is a bunch of different afterlife views of the afterlife in judaism.

Here is a big chart that compares afterlife beliefs among other things. http://www.religionfacts.com/big_religion_chart.htm

Judaism(if they believe in an afterlife at all) believes heaven is a sort of waiting room, where you wait for the messiah to come. Their punishment is showing you your life as it is, and your life as it could have been if you were good to purify the soul. This makes more sense if you remember that they used to believe in reincarnation and that you only stayed in heaven for 12 months at the most.

This is what I don't understand in the bible, god is all forgiving and loves all his creations. So no one should ever go to hell over some "sin", because we all make mistakes and god will forgive, he wont hold grudges...We are his creation right?

So fuck all religions. Religions were created because someone had a power trip and wants to control people. As long as you believe in god that's good enough.

I fucking hate religions, bastards.

I am fairly sure they do. From my understanding is some Hindu sects it is just a part of the recantation cycle for bad people.

Depends on the Hindu. Hinduism is really fluid and open-minded compared to the Abrahamic religions.

Purgatory is for someone who hasn't sinned enough in their life to go to hell. Very few people go straight to heaven. Many are in purgatory for a while, whilst being punished by fire for your sins until you are "clean" enough for heaven.

I used to be Catholic, and it seems like a lot of bullshit.

Hell is a myth.

Even Pope John Paul II knew it.

well if you get technical then you could say that once Jesus died then everyone was saved. its an in-religous arguement! but who knows maybe it'll just feel like an eternity.

hell is for heros. anyways once you are there your ass belongs to the devil. the only way to get out is if Satan somehow loses possesion of you and you are taken elsewhere. at least thats how i see it. do you think that if God and satan are enemies, they are going to work within the same system to take possesion of your soul? after all, the hell christians believe in is a system constructed by MEN, not entities
