View Full Version : Creationist museum: T-rex had such big teeth so it could open coconuts

quote:In the middle of the lobby of the 50,000-square-foot Creation Museum in Petersburg, Ky., a 20-foot waterfall tumbles. Two life-size figures of children with long black hair and in buckskin clothes play in the stream a few feet from two towering Tyrannosaurus Rex models that can move and roar. The museum, which cost $25 million to build and has a sea of black asphalt parking lots for school buses, has a scale model of Noah's ark that shows how Noah solved the problem of fitting dinosaurs into the three levels of the vessel--he loaded only baby dinosaurs. And on the wooden model, infant dinosaurs cavort with horses, giraffes, hippopotamuses, penguins and bears. There is an elaborate display of the Garden of Eden, where Adam and Eve, naked but strategically positioned so as not to display breasts or genitals, swim in a river as giant dinosaurs and lizards roam the banks.

Before Adam and Eve were expelled from paradise, museum visitors are told, all of the dinosaurs were peaceable plant-eaters. The evidence is found in Genesis 1:30, where God gives "green herb" to every creature to eat. There were no predators. T-Rex had such big teeth, the museum explains, so it could open coconuts. Only after Adam and Eve sinned and were cast out of paradise did the dinosaurs start to eat flesh. And Adam's sin is a key component of the belief system, for in the eyes of many creationists, in order for Jesus' death to be meaningful it had to atone for Adam's first sin.

The museum has a theater equipped with seats that shake and gadgets that spray mist at the audience as the story of God's six-day creation of the world unfolds on the screen and the sound system rocks the auditorium. There are 30-foot-high walls that represent the cliffs of the Grand Canyon, floors that resemble rocks embedded with fossils, and rooms where a "Christian" paleontologist counters the claims of an "evolutionist" paleontologist. It has the appearance of a real science museum, complete with a planetarium, a gift shop and plaques on the wall with quotes from creationist "scientists" who have the title doctor conspicuously before their names. It has charts, timelines and graphs with facts and figures. It is meant to be interactive, to create, like Universal Studios, a contrived reality with an array of costly animatronic men and women as well as moving dinosaurs.

It's almost like fundamentalists go out of their way to be as ignorant as possible.

They forgot to mention that coconuts used to be 6 times larger, but God shrank them as punishment for Adam's sin..

You would have thought their arms would have evolved to be able to grasp the coconuts. Oh thats right - no evolution. So this god fellow thought it would be funny to watch these poor animals mash coconuts with their teeth.

What an arsehole!

And the rational Americans fear for the safety of those laughing at our religous nuts...because our religous nutters control the largest supply of nuclear weapons on Earth. http://www.totse.com/bbs/frown.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/frown.gif) And it just so happens that the current asshat in control of that red button believes he was installed as President by God himself.

30 years ago fundamentalists would totally deny that dinosaurs even existed. Now the dinosaurs do indeed exist, and they all eat coconuts and other fruits and vegetables.

I wonder how many pounds of coconuts a T. Rex would have to eat to get full.

one of those newsweek polls found this:

"Nearly half (48 percent) of the public rejects the scientific theory of evolution; one-third (34 percent) of college graduates say they accept the Biblical account of creation as fact."

the question they were asked was "Is evolution well-supported by evidence and widely accepted within the scientific community?"

the answer is yes. 48% of americans are wrong. crazy.

the answer is yes.

Did you ever think it is widely accepted by the scientific community because they get government grants. Its like the scientist that say global warming is mans doing they get government grants when global warming is a lie and then Al Gore saying "the science is in"

government grants......your an idiot

The only government funding for evolutionary biologists come from the ones trying to find cures for flu's, virus's, bacteria etc.

There idea of creation is so fucked up its laughable. So god was pissed of at everybody for sinning, so he decided to flood the fucken planet.

Then for some reason after the flood he decided to make everybody start killing and eating other animals for food, instead of being plant eaters. Ya that sounds like a good way to get people from sinning.

This just goes to show why church's DONT need money. It makes me wonder if the people in charge actually believe this. Church attendance is going down in alot of places, resulting in the church losing billions of dollars. Now in order to protect there money intrests they have to get the word out there more. Since people are turning away from religion for the study of the world through the scientific method, there religion that was once faith, now needs the appeal as scientific.

Its sickening, big buesness will do it though. Money at the expense of other peoples minds.

It's not stupidity, it's denial. It seems stupid to us because we have no reasons to believe in it. Fundamentalists have every reason to believe in it, and they will go out of their way to validate their beliefs just to reinforce what they think are already universal truths, despite what modern science has revealed to them.

It's like a parent who will lie or overexaggerate a "danger" to their child in order to overprotect them from ever having to face the danger themselves. Therefore, they feel it is necessary to shelter them from certain things just so they will never have to face it and possibly make a bad decision.

They're just overexaggerating how they perceive the "truths" proved by science in order to overprotect the belief systems they hold themselves. They see accepting another viewpoint as dangerous, in that it might somehow make their deep-seated beliefs less true.

well it does make sense they're extinct, Noah would have to build an ark size of a Titanic for those huge fuckers, so he said fuck 'em.

And that's how the dinasoures died out.

Oh god I love American stupidity... not even muslim theocratists build "creationist museums"

These people are ignoring the pile of evidence to claim that one of the most fearsome predators that ever existed ate...

Coconuts?

:eek::eek::eek:

Wtf.

Seriously? What about Deinonychus? Did that uber claw help it chop carrots and radishes for its fucking salads?

Or the Allosaurus? Wtf did it eat?

Megalodon? Dimetrodon?

All these carnivorous lizards had to eat something, and most of our 'modern' vegetation needed significantly more than 6000 years to develop.

Unless it was magically put there by an invisible father-figure shaking his finger at us for accepting our nature (that he created, mind you) and calling it Sin?

:rolleyes:I'm gonna laugh when I'm dead. This bullshit isn't gonna fly over there.
