Ok, so how many of you crazy, delusional, fucktards, actually believe in praying to a fictional god/higher power, and believe that god will help you in time of need and all that other bullshit.

Well If you are one of those religious freaks, let me ask you this. What the fuck makes you think that your so called god would want to help you anyways? I'm pretty sure most people here on totse come from well off middle/working class families from the U.S or other highly developed countries. I'm sure most of you eat a nice hot meal everyday, play your stupid fucking little video games, watch the fucking tv, drive your stupid cars and go get wasted every weekend. So, why should god help you instead of a poor starving child in africa or a crippled man in a wheel chair? What makes you so special?

Nothing does! The world is fucked. It's been fucked for thousands of years. Your weak, passive little attempts at praying to an empty god to comfort yourself and make the world a better place are absolutely meaningless.

I went to a catholic school for eight fucking years. I used to have a deep profound faith and love for god, but once I got to highschool I started coming to my senses. I realized that there was no god that was going to save me from death. There was no god that was going to bring world peace. There was no god that was going to end the suffering. I liberated my mind from the chains of christianity which held me back and kept me in line.

I would have to say that I am agnostic, because there is no proof whether or not there really is something out there. If there is, it definetly doesn't have any spiritual contact with the human world, that's for sure.

The truth is, according to what I believe, we as the human race truly do not know how we or the universe got here. It's been a complete mystery since the beginning of mankind, and to narrow mindedly say that god created everything no questions asked, with no shred of evidence is just absurd. There are millions upon millions of differen't possibilities for how we got here. We will probably never know within our lifetime until we die. And as far as the bible, koran,etc.... goes, any wacked out, charismatic fuckhead could have wrote that shit and could have sounded pretty damn fuckin convincing. L.ROn Hubbard did it, the guy who started the jehovas witness, or mormons, did it. But which religion is correct? Everybody thinks there fucking right.

Ok, whatever, I guess I am coming across as negative and pessimistic, but I really like what you said in your thread, that we are all our own gods and masters of our own universe. That is so true. We as humans have the power to do as we please because of our endless capacity of brain power. So many people don't realize this and let there minds go to waste or just sell themselves short.

^ Yeah thanks.

I think the only "Faith" anybody ever needs is faith in there own magnificant selves.

Some people extend the faith in their own self into a gratitude for the fortune of the cosmos to have brought their life into being.

If cause and effect is linear or cyclical, then it has been in the cards for a long time that our talents were to be. What troubles me is people personifying and worshipping fortune out of obsession rather than gratitude. To be truly grateful for your natural talents is to utilize them to the fullest capacity.

Grace
Love
Imagination
Reason
Strength
Endurance
Precision

Be fearless! Recognize your talents and use them if you are truly grateful for your fortune!

I think a grudge against god is a pretty awful one to hold.
How lonely is it in a world where you can't accept a coincidence as special or a sunny day as heaven sent.
Surely I'm not a devout Christian, other than celebrating the farce-holidays of Easter and Christmas. -but I'm not willing to throw away my open mind entirely.

More on topic..
The majority of intelligent Christians don't believe god meddles directly with the universe. Instead prayer is a form of meditation, it helps to identify problems. Sometimes running over what's bothering you can give you the answers you need.
Try not to get too wound up against christians. Most of them are cleverer than you think.

I did not read your entire post. I apologize, but your attitude turned me off a lot (but hey, it's understandable. I've been known to get pretty mad at God myself.) Just remember that's someone's faith you're talking about and, no matter how convinced you are that you are right, there are intelligent, well spoken people on the opposite end who are just as convinced that they are correct.

What makes me think God would care about my life anyway? Primarily - the bible. To truly understand Christianity, we have to recognize that we don't deserve any attention God gives us. He does this, however, out of his enduring and powerful love.

And something I've picked up from experience is...If you're angry, that's understandable. Why not talk to God about it?

Why would the experience itself be any better or worse depending on where you believe it came from?

How does asking something else to solve your problems help you?

Maybe you're just not that smart, and the people around you just appear to be. I don't think you're dumb, I'm just saying that what your talking about here is pretty damn empty.

Amazing thread. Congratulations on waking up from the christian lie after all that conditioning, it must have been hard. There are other people like you who see it for the chain it is, binding every thought you make. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Why talk to god about it? Well, for starters, he doesn't exist. The bible wasn't written by his son and his holy whore either, it was written and rewritten as often as those in power wanted it to be, to suit their purposes. So, the people who wrote the bible dont' care about you, they care about your money and the power you give them.

I see you disagree, but you don't have to be hostile about it.

i'd quote, but i'm too lazy. 'god' can help whoever he damn well pleases and here's the ONE reason: omnipotence.

Not everyone prays, "Dear God, make me rich and powerful and never have to suffer any hardships" like you seem to think.

Many people pray for guidance for their life and how to better help people and serve the greater good.

I'm an atheist, but I have been contemplating the effectiveness of prayer. Studies show it has no influence on, say, cancer patients, when others pray for them... but what if they prayed themselves?

Almost every time I've ever prayed - not to God, but just to what/whoever might help - it's worked. Psychic powers? Result of solipsism? God? Who knows. Still, don't write it off entirely; it's comforting if nothing else. :p

It is a law of nature. 1 seed out of 100 grows to a tree. One person out of a hundred reach enlightenment. 1 out of every 100 nations is free. Something has to be the 90 percent of manure to push the 10 percent that are left to fruition.

i actually think kind of the same as you. im not as intense about it though.

i think no religion is right. at best, some have a few points that are right, but in the end they really dont know what they are talking about other than whats good and bad (minus religions that teach killing those who arent part of it is a good thing).

religions are wrong, but i believe it is possible to contact the other side and learn basicly everything that religions try to explain. ive mentioned before that i know a real pyschic. this person has discussed my deepest personal thoughts, thoughts i have never mentioned to anyone, and the things she mentioned were way too specific to be guesses. she has also told me many things that continue to come true. and none of that vauge crap that can apply to anyone.

thanks to her id like to think i know a little something about the way things work and what the other side is like. theres really too much to get into here but ill tell you a couple things you might want to know. for one, there isnt a hell or satan. i never asked about a "god", but it seems like we are all an equal part of "god". that is there isnt some huge seperate entity that controls everything and judges us. and we chose to be here, we werent put here by anyone else. knowing full well how shitty our lives might be.

A real psychic? So your saying that she actually read your mind? I think that's just bullshit right next to religion as well. I don't believe in fate, or destiny, because we as human beings pave our own paths through our own freedom of choice. If my future was already planned out, than why should my existence have any meaning in the first place?

I think when your around certain people for a while, and start seeing what type of person they are, you can start to feel certain vibes around them and understand how they think. I think that's pretty much what psychics do for the most part. They just know how to read people better and are very good manipulators. That's about it.

What the fuck is this "other side" you keep talking about?

um, sorry to burst your bubble but there is a God. I have spoken with he/she/it. You just have to look. No I don't follow Christianity either.
