Okies, I thought i'd post this by way of introduction for those who don't know me and also to quash any conspiracy theories (see, I do know this forum!).

LostCause herself asked Root to make me co-mod of this forum. My appointment is in no way any sort of critic of her modding .

I am a big fan of the way she has always modded this forum and made it her own and i have no intention of changing anything, rather i'm here to back her play.

In light of recent events I think LC felt a second mod would be a good idea, as an anti spam measure and to slap down the occaisional troll.

So no mystery there people.

Right, for those who don't know me already: I was a very regular poster here until about a year ago. Since then I've joined in the odd thread but haven't been around much. The older regulars here all know me...some even like me...a few even actually respect my knowledge (but only a few).

Back in another lifetime I trained for the priesthood (protestant).

Last time I checked there were about 5 people here whose knowledge of the bible equaled or bettered my own (they know who they are).

I also have indepth knowledge of the classic christian 'sects' . Infact Jehovah's Whiteness are forbidden from talking to me because of my knowledge of their history and the darker bits that they don't like the rank and file to know.

Oh and incase you hadn't already noticed I am also somewhat arrogant and a bit of an arsehole when it comes to religious debate. I rarely quote suorces because if your trying o debate with me without knowing them then you probably have nothing worth saying anyway. :P

When she is *here*. That is the key element. I have little to no issue with her moderation skills when she is able to grace us with her presence. Her wit, knowledge of the topic, etc are all great, but they matter little when they are rarely witnessed.

Anyway, I didn't mean to turn this thread into a LC-bashing event. I like her, I've got no problems with her personally, I am glad there is a new moderator, and....HAPPY EASTER, EVERYONE ! :D

Like any human organisation they have had their fill of corruption, vice and hypocrisy. All of which have been documented (if one is prepared to search).

In particular the so-called 'Swiss Declaration' is a dark stain. Which in a nutshell was that, while in Hitler's Germany JW's were being sent to concentration camps for refusing national service, the Swiss Watchtower corp. issued a declaration that the Swiss brothers should do national service and that it was good and wholesome.

I used to live in Germany, where until only a few years ago JW's were still being sent to prison for refusing to do national service and it used to upset them greatly to be told about this part of their history.

Don't get me wrong, ALL churches are made up of imperfect human beings and all have fallen short at some point.

Straight laced 7th day Adventist? Well ahundred years ago they fell into the 'fucking for christ' or 'love in' trap.

Normal people, when they are sorry for a behavior, do not repeat said behavior. To apologize can be likened to admitting wrongdoing, because regret is a key element. If you know you're doing something wrong, then you would not willingly continue doing it if you were truly regretting it.

To pursue a regrettable wrongdoing because you feel it is important is unlikely, and thus leaves me with disbelief that you are, in fact, "sorry".

It would have been a "mistake" initially when you first replied to jackketch, that I could agree with. I clearly said what I could: I remember the conversation happening, but have no empirical evidence, and anybody who SHOULD have remembered it as well (because it was discussed in IRC at great length) doesn't.

So, I recanted my statement outright. I said something to the effect of, "I withdraw my assertion, because I have no evidence."

I think that is perfectly acceptable.

As for the definition of "sorry", I know it very well, because unlike you, I trust the dictionary (unabridged versions or otherwise). I also apply the definitions of words in context.

Obviously you don't since the definition of "sorry" allows me to be sorry for doing something yet still maintaining it was important to do so, and even continue to do so in the future.

For example, I can say I'm sorry to my boss for getting late to work yet still maintain it was important because I was, lets say... saving a kitten - and vow to save other kittens if the similar event were to occur in the future

I was demodded because I moved an off topic thread (involving Jack and an admin) to a forum where it belonged, as per the RULES. The fact that said admin was receiving heat for modding me in the first place turned the moving of that thread into "justifiable cause" (convenience) for demodding.

My "crime" was not intentional, and other moderators have gotten away with far worse.

There was more to it than that. DS cleaned up threads that didn't need to be cleaned, if you catch my drift...

The allusions to "e-sex" make me el O el. Digital, seriously... The reason I chose Jack was simply because Jack and I mod S&A together so I know we work well together and have a similiar moderating style. I just didn't feel like putting myself through another fiasco having to pick someone, train them, and then possibly find out that I've hired a pit bull as a co-mod. This was just easiest for everyone involved. He's a good mod, he's quite knowledgeable, and he's unbiased.

Perhaps you think you or someone else should've been modded because they post more often, and you think that it's undemocratic to elect someone to be moderator that doesn't frequent the forum. But, &Totse is not a democracy and jackketch has been made mod based on his moderation skill and background.

If you want to discuss this further I'd be happy to via e-mail, but I don't think it's appropriate to drag this thread out too much longer.

They are talking about DS being de-modded for moving/closing Jack's thread when he was arguing with AcidMelt. It wasn't about Jack's being made a moderator.

Why not ? I am knowledgable on the topic of religion, and I spent my first 3,000 or so posts in this forum. I was dedicated to it, and many people valued my input.

Jack said it himself: I would have made a great mod of this forum.
