I'm not religious so please work with me.
I respect the Jewish Religion but if they are still waiting for the messiah that won't work out. Jesus did not prove his "messiahness" at all. He simply said it and people believed him. In this day and age no one is going to believe someone who says they are the messiah. Are the Jewish people going to wait forever? How do you see it?

In this day and age no one is going to believe someone who says they are the messiah. Are the Jewish people going to wait forever? How do you see it?First of all, the Jewish religion doesn't proselytise, so Jews really aren't trying to get people to believe anything. Second, the Messiah is only the Messiah because he fulfills prophecy; it's the fulfillment of the prophecies that Jews are waiting for: in-gathering of the exiles, rebuilding of the Temple, re-establishment of the Davidic Monarchy. When someone causes these things to come to pass, the Jews will recognise that person as the Messiah. Lastly, the Christian texts take great pains to depict Jesus fulfilling different bits of prophecy. That was the Christian's way of giving indication of his messiahship. Parts of the new testament make intricate reference to parts of the old testament so that the reader would be assured that Jesus at each juncture was fulfilling some kind of prophecy. Jews say that some prophecies that they consider to be very important aren't even claimed to be fulfilled by Jesus (e.g. the ones I listed above) and that therefore Jesus couldn't have been the Messiah. It's the fulfillment of those prophecies that Jews are waiting for.

Not only that but also there is a great deal of NT evidence that shows Jesus not only went out of his way to fulfill prophecies but had a whole organisation to orchestrate it.
Read the whole 'entering Jerusalem on an a donkey ' bit sometime.

It's strange, considering my distaste for Christianity and uneasiness with a lot of the teachings and stories in the Tanakh, but Judaism, along with Hinduism, is one of the few religions I actually respect.

what would your distaste for christianity have to do with your opinion on judaism?

The days of the prophets and messiahs have came and went. There is nothing to wait for anymore. Empires have already fallen.

Yes Judaism is retarded... but then again so is every other religion, no point in just picking on them.

Well as jesus was a jew... the two religions are kind of linked.
Lol sephiroth, you have the shmah as you sig? Dont ask how I know that.
Anyways, I agree that the one good factor of the Jewish religion is that there arent any fucking missionaries (there are zionists though), but I think the Jewish messiah is meant to be interpreted like this. It says that when the messiah will come everything will be peaceful and good, but I think its meant to be interpreted as when everything is good and peaceful, its as if the messiah came, and we have to make it good ourselves. The problem I have with it is that stupid fucking morons will take every god damn thing literaly and nothing will ever get done. Nothing will ever get better. People are too damn stupid to achieve that state on their own, let alone realize that they need to on their own. Now I think thats sort of what you said, but I wasnt quite sure.
