More like pointless radio station. You'd be hard-pressed to find a lot of folks with receivers capable of picking up on those frequencies, considering most scanners have the 900MHz range blocked. But you never know--maybe you'll find an audience of scanner freaks who live within 50ft of your house!

How about this:
You hook up a modem to it and the phone line on the other side as normal. Hook it to your computer and then you'll have wireless dial-up internet.

Damn I wish I thought of that sooner...

i would just take it apart. i love taking things apart and tryingto fix them....

pfft, 900? I have the ones that came before that.

If I leave the 10 foot range, I get shit reception.

I took it apart once to clean the buttons because the previous owner spilled something all over it, and noticed it has some nice things on it I may start turning some day.

maybe you could h@x it to work with a wireless router, and have a program on it that automaticly goes to your IP and uses your phone line or something, then you could have a basic cell phone because almost everyone has wireless routers now?

Then all you have to do is have a brute force hacker on it so you don't have to worry about network keys...

Tell me how you did it if it works...

hmm with the wireless detonator thing:
i wonder if you took the altoids box and connected it to a phone line in the wall, if someone called the house and put in the code if it would work

Well... it depends how she hooked it up. If she just went analog, then no, it wont, because its just a logic circuit with 10 inputs, or, if she went digital, it might, if the circuit was built to activate by the specific tones. But, I would think that the digital method would be too much of a pain in the ass, especially being a spur of the moment thing. However, were the system built to work with just one tone, it would be MUCH easier to construct.

The 8870 chip serves as an analog decoder, outputting the tone results to the digital microcontroller. It will read tones from the land line, but it doesn't have the ability to pick up incoming calls, and the ringing voltage might even damage it.

I've been trying to redesign my decoder. I've looked into software decoding to cut it down to one chip, but it will be a while before I figure out how to get anything working.

we bought a cordless phone from singapore once, 3 years later i get a knock on the door and a technician with some government department turns up asking for my flatmate...

turns out the cordless was working on frequencies banned in new zealand since those were the same frequencies used by the tv... the neighbours had somehow recorded an "intimate" conversation between my flatmate and his girlfriend, on there tv.

rather than exploiting it further i took a hammer to the phone not wanting to pay the outrageous fine for continuing use of it... hindsight though... that flatmate was a cock

Spatula! Quick! ...Would this work?

I think it will. You'll need a circuit to interface to the modem, but it should work fine.

I wonder why wireless dial up never got popular. It sounds so easy, but I dunno, I don't know anything about circuits. Playing PSO wirelessy on a Dreamcast would be awesome.

edit:

ok. i don't really have any advice for you.

you might want to check instructables.com for ideas.

Does it have a "page handset" feature? If so, you could turn it into a ghetto remote control. You press the button and rather then a speaker being activated a xxxx is activated.

This isn't really about cordless phones but I read about this somewhere (don't remember where) and it seems cool.

If you have two phone lines, use line 1 to dial the line 2 number, pick up on that line, then press hold so the phone displays blinking lights for both lines. If you press conference while both lines are engaged in a "conversation" to each other, what happens? I believe it said it would increase the voltage or something...I don't remember.

yeah if that worked, then anyone could listen to your phone conersations, if it were that easy, i dont think people would be messing with mp3 players
