Is anyone here interested in packet radio or APRS? I currently run a Kenwood D700A in my car with GPS and an IGate/Digi at my house using an Icom IC-V8 and AGWPE. There's not a lot of local APRS activity, so I'm trying to start that up by improving digipeater and IGate coverage. Does anyone else have any direct experience in improving the APRS situation in their local area?

our local APRS goes thru the digi at our main repeater site, way up on a hill.
shite load better than trying to send simplex. can be anywhere and the digi will fire it home plus keep the tail and u can tell if the transmition worked the repeater (good if u near the limit of coverage).

i have a data interface but havent wired it to the radio yet.

We just put a digi on the air here, but there is very little activity. I'm interested, but not enough to invest any money into getting on APRS. Someday...
