View Full Version : Many religious people AND athiests seem to have the wrong idea...

Well they do to me anyway. Ok, my basic understanding is this

*Athiests - No belief in God/Gods
*Religous beleivers (any sort) - There is a god, but ours is the only right one.

I think both are wrong. Athiests are silly to beleive there is no higher power. On the same token, Religous people are silly to beleive they actually know this 'god' (thier god) and not doing what he says could end you up in a bad place.

I am refering to a higher power. Not a Jesus, Moses, Zeus, Muhammad, etc kind of guy. I am speaking of a higher power that does not care what belief you are, and what you do in life. Its all for the higher powers enjoyment. He is a neutral, all powerful being.

Not sure exactly where this belongs. Im assuming its here.

Yeah, it's so self-evidently true that there is a "higher power" that it's just silly to have no belief in it until actual evidence comes along!

Well, same argument directed to your side. Its all in a matter of opinion. No one knows.

No one knows, exactly! Which is why it is completely reasonable to not have a belief in gods until it is proven either way. Thank you.
To say that atheists are "silly" for not having a belief in god (or a "higher power"), that is silly.

We all create our own reality. In my reality, there is no God, as in some bearded dude on a cloud or something somewhere, who judges and metes out rewards and punishments. To me, God is the spirit--sentient, creative, loving-- underlying the sum total of the universe, and all of us. This is what Jesus meant when he said "the kingdom of god is within you."

However, there are any number of spiritual entities which might accurately be described as gods, such as Tlaloc, with whom I have had a rewarding relationship for years.

I suspect we shall see a hardening of contrasting "beliefs" as we get farther along into the Age of Aquarius, the keynote of which is "I know."

BTW, over the years, I have had conversations with many so-called atheists, some of whom were confused or affronted by the fact that the God I know is nothing like the God in which they do not believe.

If it is strictly for "the higher powers enjoyment", then how could "he" be neutral? Enjoyment of all sides?

I know the Truth. I also know that most people aren't mentally capable of understanding the truth. God exists in a way, but God is not the personified father figure that the common believes.

Seeing as how small of a piece of the universe we have traversed, and dwell on, I'd say that that chance of anyone having the right theory out of thousands is very slim.

It's not like we think microbes have religous views, let alone the right ones. I don't think anyone even believes microbes can fathom god, it's ridiculous.

But that something so small has credible ideas? It seems unlikely with the little time we have been around, and the little knowledge we have, that we could have the right idea about the force that created all of the universe, a force that created such a huge mass.

Can we even get an idea about the creator of the universe until we have understood the universe itself?

Its silly to belive that I can't shoot lasers from my cock, because until you actully come over and I blow a load on your face, you don't actully know.

So, do you think its silly to belive I can't shoot lasers?

Can we even get an idea about the creator of the universe until we have understood the universe itself?

That's sorta the problem.
Religious fantatics seem to think something like this:
The universe is nothing more than we can see, god created it, just because he can, there's no questioning, he just did. God did it, the end.

Hey jackass! He's only bi-curious with minor homoerotic tendencies, and we prefer the color "light magenta." Concede or die!

The point is, there are infinite things we can't disprove and that is not a reason to believe in any of them.

You expect us to just take your assertions seriously with no arguments whatsoever? Are you fucking joking man?

Yes, as an atheist I *must* be wrong to not believe that a self-contradictory asshole of a being created the universe, even though there is no real evidence that it exists (beyond what is completely misunderstood or outright fabricated by religionists) and the fact that such a being is logically impossible.

Of course, I'll undoubtedly get shouted down by some raving lunatic who can't spell worth a damn while he spits out meaningless passages out of a badly edited book of fairy tales written by bronze age goat herders, in order to prove that his invisible sky buddy exists. He will not only fail to provide evidence that says anything beyond "But God says so!", he will also fail to recognize the error he has made and proceed to give me shit when I point all this out. This guy will most likely be some ultra-conservative fuckass.

After that, some other douchebag will chime in that I "should respect the beliefs of others" regardless of whether or not those beliefs are worthy of anyone's respect. This person doesn't care for the hard facts, which clearly state that Jesus and his daddy are a double team of fucking assholes with nothing better to do than contradict themselves and jerk people around, and instead choose to believe that Christianity is all about happy bunnies and shit. This person will also give me shit when I point out how utterly incorrect they are. This guy will undoubtedly be some ultra-liberal hippy shitpiece.

There are millions of these assholes all over North America, both in the US and in Canada. (Nobody gives a fuck about Mexico.) What does this mean for me, the atheist? It means that my home, no matter where I make it, is run by theistic morons. Fuck you all.

I'm an atheist. I think every atheist believes in an higher power. We obviously just didn't magically appear here. So even when it comes to the big bang theory, wouldn't that be considered a higher power?...Even if they refuse the big bang, then they are just still studying and thinking. It's ok to know, that you don't know.

I don't believe in any kind of god, connected to any kind of religion. No judgments, no heaven or hell.

But of course, you can give the word "god" your own meaning. Then this is where it gets confusing for some people.

Realistically, i believe that we are just intelligent animals, no more special than a little tiny ant. We are just a more advanced life form, Probably a little to advanced. To the point where we call our selves "human"..to convince our selfs that we are worth so much more, but in reality we're not.

Over time we have expanded our intellect, and created big nests, we call them cities. Where we work, kinda like a bee in a bee hive. We modify ourself, and deny natural nature, with hair products, hair straighteners, shaving the face, legs and armpits, having surgery, using creams.etc etc... Also if you remove music, movies, computers, theater, books...if we were to mark out all human creations. You would see the animals that we truly are.

Only after a while, we were like.. "wow this place is fucking shit, there is like fuck all to do.. I know, lets build shit". Then we become intelligent, from thinking, experimenting and passing knowledge on.

Now we have your dumbass, sitting at a computer, eating food, playing doom. Thanks to those mother fuckers back in the day. :)

He's probably redefined "higher power" in his own mind to mean something significantly more mundane, like turkey sandwich or something else equally nonsensical. It's a common tactic of the reality-impaired.

I guess some people can't fathom the idea that there are human beings out there who hold themselves (personally) and humanity (in general) both responsible and accountable for the way the world works.

I also suppose it is equally unfathomable to some how a person can lead a good, decent life rich in morals and heavy in happiness without having a Higher Power to lend the credit to.

Indeed. A lot of people are just weak minded that way.
