can anyone elaborate on why eating the wrong kind of fruit, should condem mankind forever? Is the fruit symbolic for something else or is that just it man couldn't trust god's judgement on something as trivial as eating an apple?

The bible doesn't say what kind of fruit it was. The whole 'apple of discord' thang came in much later.
well, why do you think a 4,000+ year old folk tale from north west semetic nomads of the middle east should make sense to you?
It probably has something to do with the transition from nomadic life to pastoral/agricultural life. Seeing as the story talks about a garden maybe it has sumerian origins as well or maybe that detail is specific to the hebrews(the patriarchs came from mesopatamia) and theirs is just a variant of an old semitic myth.
Either way you shouldn't expect ancient/primitive myths to have much relevance or sense in your world today.

Yes there are parallels to certain Sumerian legends , although the actual 'creation story' less so.
The sumerians record a 'plant of eternal life' eaten by their 'noah' and also of note the snake was a major icon of their religion.
your point about the change from a nomadic to an agrarian culture is often overlooked when examining the OT.Props.

The "FRUIT", Symbolized, is the "Five Senses" (Peripherals) with their Rationed Perimeter ABSOLUTES (LIMITS) of SIN: Sine(SIN) Wave, CYCLE.
When you eat of the "FRUIT" you shall surly Die, Sleep, Hypnotized, Believe, "BE".
