View Full Version : Could Jesus save Lucifer?

So, assuming Satan repented of his sins and asked Jesus to come into his heart, would he be saved?

Secondly, is Satan capable of repenting?

First of all, Satan/Lucifer and so on--myths. Never happened. That said, hypothetically not.

For one thing, he is quite adamant on his position--"better to reign in hell than serve in heaven" and all that.

For another, he is an angel and--according to the Xian mythos--must obey different rules than us domesticated primates.

Satan correction satan, appears in scripture, particularly in Job, as a throwback to early jewish religion that predates the idea of monotheism. "Lift up ye heads of doors" is a direct reference to a council of Gods that took turns being the satan (meaning temptor) to test the faith of human beings. Hell specifically coming into existance in the medival period as a way to frighten Christians into living a life of good. The fallen angel myth is thanks primarily to Milton and Dante. Lucifer means bringer of light in latin (lux=light ferre= to carry) funny name to assign to the bringer of darkness no? This all being said Satan is free of sin himself, according to the current christian dogma God chooses to let Satan tempt us foolish humans, and God would not like to lose his precious temptor.
Conc. Its a fun story but completely fictional, so the question is as valid as who would win Neo or a Jedi.

The Jedi mind trick only works on the weak minded. So yes... Keanu would be susceptible to its. Due to the fact that before he saved Zion, he was having some Excellent Adventures of the Bill & Ted nature..

Except that that passage is a analogy to old age, not Satan or a council of God.

I could say the same about everything in the bible

You COULD say it, but you would be incorrect.

While there is no "one true" religion, and no religion has all the answers, every religion offers many truths. Sure, the OT is mostly myth and metaphor, and much of the NT is garbled, but it would not serve us to throw out the baby with the bathwater.

I think the real question is whether or not Jesus could save Neo.

The bible is the word of God! Are you calling God a liar?

I think the real question is whether or not Jesus could save Neo.

That is irrelevant, the real question is:

Who is the one?

But Neo IS Jesus! Don't you guys understand obscurely retarded metaphor after being filtered through the Hollywood bullshit?

First of all Satan almost got Jesus to turn from god once, so you could say there's more of a chance of Satan turning Jesus than Jesus turning Satan, but he didn't and he couldn't. Second of all, Satan doesn't need to repent because he has gods permission to do all the things that he does. He is gods most trusted angel.

You almost had this right, but I had to correct, Judaism has always been a monotheistic religion and was, in fact, the earliest dated monotheistic religion with only Akhnatan Sun worship and Zoroastrianism closely following it. It originated in a small tribe in central Africa with no written language, where there was a prophet who claimed there was a promise land in the north. He led the tribe to Egypt where they were enslaved and over the course of several hundred years they (having no written doctrine of their own and being slaves) adopted the Egyptians The Book Of The Dead and rewrote it with their own spins.

They're use of plurals when referring to god is misleading, because in Hebrew/Aramaic/Arabic/etc... it isn't considered plural. It just translates that way into English. There are several words for god in Hebrew including one that's never allowed to be spoken. Most common words for god, though are Elohim meaning "god of many gods" and Ashem meaning "god of many beings". It also says in Genesis when god speaks to Adam "Now you are like us the gods." implying that there are more than one god, however this is lost in translation. In Judaism god is all-incompassing and it's thought that he is singularily everything at once. So everything is plural and he is one. It's a difficult concept to grasp, but you see where I'm going.

Cheers,
Lost

Satan is not Lucifer.

In fact, some might argue that Lucifer was quite like Jesus, the only difference being pride.

Satan is a metaphor for animalistic instincts, IMO, and Lucifer for illumination, but tained with pride.

at some level, of course.

you can make them a billion different things.

you could even call yourself lucifer.

in fact, I am Lucifer.

ta-dah.

We all are truly agnostic. Faith is not enough to have one call themselves Lucifer.

First off, Satan is not going to be a ruler of hell. He is going to burn among the rest, not to mention he isn't an angel.

My apologies to lost cause. I didn't mean judaism used to be poly theistic, becoming monotheistic was when it became judaism, but the hebrew people prior to judaism had the council of gods. The lift up ye heads oh doors reference prejewish folklore where an avatar of the gods would become a human hero, and if he returned to the council sucessful they would "lift their heads" and regard him as their own, if not they would keep their heads down ignoring him thus not returning his prior divinity.
