View Full Version : what would it take to build some kinda universal signal jammer?

i seem to be in one of those "lets raise some hell" moods while pondering my lack of faith in radar detectors due to costly failures experienced by direct friends and aquantances. this led me to "how about a do-it-all jammer instead?". radar detectors have to have the correct intake technology to beat constantly updated speed detection gear. fyi take companies "we'll pay your ticket if you get one while using our product" guarentees with a large grain of salt. my uncles gotten 2 and a good friend has gotten 2. both detectors were less than 3 or 4 months old, and on all 4 the detector didn't give an alert, and only 1 was compensated by the company. the other 3 they refused to pay through all kinds of bullshit semantics and red tape.

would it be at all rational to construct a jammer that doesnt discern between signals at all, and just mangles all frequences of every type of wave? radar guns: standard and laser, police radios, cell phones, infrared, everything. how big would such a device need to be and where on a car would it need to be mounted in order to knock out a good broad mile or so ahead and behind you? would it be disguisable? what kinda power source would be needed? i really need the basics of this topic more than anything.

how illegal would this be? or more realistically how hard would it be to get caught? if your on the highway doin 30 over and you pass a cop who's obviously been taking radar, and his gun scrambles near the time that you pass, does he need to gather any other evidence to pull you over? if he stopped you for speeding and you asked to see his radar reading, knowing that he didn't have one, what happens next? would it be one of those "we're searching your car, yes without probable cause, cause we know you did this and we're gona fuck you for it even if it is out of our power and theres nothing you can do and nobodys gona stand up for you" type of situations?

i'm a bit intoxicated at the moment, so i might come look at this post tomorrow and decide that this is a terrible idea thatd be expensive to build and would get me put in jail for like 20 years. until then, what can you guys tell me from the technology standpoint?

Radio Free Amerika!

How could you ever even think of posting this in DIY, you horrible horrible person.

Yea, RFA could tell you the best way to do it. I would think a universal approach would be to flood the ambient environment with ridiculous amounts of electrical noise. Analog signals would still get through (albeit quite noisy), but if its loud enough, digital signals will suffer very much distortion.

One nuclear bomb or other emp generating device, will screw with the ionoshpere distoring most signals for several days.

yeah and the nuclear blast will destroy most transmitters in the area!

What brands of detectors did you buy? Cheaper ones 200$ US and down go off (or dont) randomly. Try a Valentine..
