The nokia 3220 was the first phone to include RFID reading and writing capabilities If that is so would there be a way to install custom applications to say read rfid tags on cars and keys and other sorts of devices that use rfid
tags (credit cards,high security doors etc.)

I made a copy of this thread for the guys at NS&H to read. Maybe they can answer it better than RFA can because it is a hack.

A Bad Ideas possibility for this exists as well: use the writing capabilities to try to erase RFID tags on merchandise in stores. It might work.
I recommend against it, though.

only a handfull of stores us it. it is much cheaper to go with barcodes.

RFID "towers" are very common around me.
