So I was talking with my friend today, and she had a whoooole lot of evidence that the rapture is coming, and pretty soon too. I'll post about that later.

Anyhow.
I'm 13, Asian, and I don't want to go to hell.
The only other solution I can think of is converting to Christianity. How would I go about doing this?

Keep in mind that I'm not a person who's easily persuaded by bullshit, and I don't want my parents to know if I'm a Christian.

Don't flame me, tell me to gtfo, or call me a kidiot.

Thanks in advance, guys.

In general, you don't become a christian just because of what someone said. Also, you say that you're not easily swayed, but are 13 (the swaying age). However, that is not my main concern.

The first thing you need to do is post the evidence :D

Second, you must properly examine the info that your friend has given you. I could care less what you believe, but you must examine it to a perfection.

-This is a good time to post that garbage about organized religion now. It may be relevant to the things she's told you (the "proof")

------

I've noticed quite a few things about religion, and, to be quite frank, I am not pleased with what I have seen. Before I disclose my thoughts, I would like to inform you all that I am not a saint, nor have I ever claimed to be. I am human, just like the rest of you, and take no claim to be on a higher standing or unequal to any of society. I have made my own mistakes; just as you all have, though I also realize that it’s the realization of these mistakes that sets you apart from others.

I would like to begin my disclosure with the perfect example, which would involve one of my friends. His beliefs are different from mine, though we get along fine. To give you a hint of his religion, he wears a Pentagram. Whenever he would arrive to school, others would stare at him due to being different; tell him that he was on a “straight fall to hell,” and to remove the “stupid symbol.” Naturally, I'd defend him, responding to the ignorance of these “well meaning students” that passing judgment upon him was not the Christian way and that they should love thy brother, regardless of his alliance.

However, I noticed that several people, not just the ones in my school, and not just Christians, carried this mentality. It was as if everyone grew uncontrollably angry at anyone who didn't carry the same belief system (rather this was done due to fear or ignorance, I am not sure).

Growing sick of the madness, I decided to branch out of this religion that I've been taught (a frightful move on my part), in hopes to study other religions. This desire had lead me to the study of Buddhism, Witchcraft, the study of Greek and Egyptian Gods, the Islamic faith, etc.

To cut to the core of the cake, the single most shocking and most unrealized piece of knowledge that I have obtained would be the fact that they ALL WORKED in some way, shape, form, or fashion. Regardless of the system, there was a bit of practicality to it, no matter HOW MINUTE.

Because of this realization, I grew angry and spiteful toward religion, wondering exactly WHY they all worked. . .and why, despite this fact, did the followers of MOST of these religions clashed daily over petty and pathetic differences. It took me quite a while to calculate the answer to this puzzling and divine question. However, the answer was in front of my face the entire time.

The reasons why religions clash are because of MAN (seeing as to how religion is made for man and how religion and beliefs are different in nature). Man has altered religion to the point of no return. It's not that the religions are false (as previously stated). However, once a religion obtains a spec of truth, it considers it the entire truth and attempts to destroy everything that doesn't believe the same.

And now, pass the cake of this disclosure and into the cold and uncooked center of it. What the hell is the point of religion? Why follow something that has been altered and influenced by man? Every single aspect of religion has been influenced by man. No matter WHAT aspect you can think of, it was influenced by man, and man is imperfect. Yet, despite this roaring fact, we persecute others. . .

This disclosure is not meant to change your belief or “convert.” It is simply a compilation of my experiences, meant to shed light on what most believe and to allow you to think clearly about your beliefs and religions (which, again, are different). I do expect this writing to come under HARSH criticism, and I am fully prepared to accept this, and every other comment that ensues, be they intelligent, correct, ignorant, or useless.

Take in what you’ve read If you're angry, ask yourself why. . .

----

There's NOTHING wrong with believing. It's just that you need to be sure WHY you believe (fear is the usual culprit). I find organized religion to be. . . well. . . fucked.

I don't know about the Christian part. I would assume you just study up on the beliefs and...be like that. But I bet theres some kind of ceremony you need to put up with, so you can be 'reborn' or something.

Sorry.

However, I am particularity interested in this evidence of a rapture coming soon.

Whats the word?

Again, not downing you, but don't believe in something just because someone told you to. Do it because you "know it's the right thing to do."

And go do some research. :)

She's not on AIM right now, but the 'evidence' isn't something I'm particularly worried about either. I've been thinking about improving my life for some time, and organized religion seems right.

Also, is it possible to be a Christian and not go to hell if you don't go to church?

umm. . . what the hell?

You need to go learn more about christianity. Also, it shouldn't be "omfg j00 go to church every sunday or j00 go 2 hell pl0x."

This is kind of retarded.

-Go research.
-Re-read my post. All of it.

Basically, I'm assuming you don't want to go to "hell," judging by all of your posts.

First off, let me say that this is the number one fear tactic used. Do you believe in hell because she told you, or because you know it's there? I'm going with number one.

I mean, seriously, go do some research. becoming a christian because you don't want to go to hell isn't really the right reason to be joining, now is it?

(it's really hard to stay restrained when people post things like this. . . and people feed into what everyone says, ya know?)

READ MY ENTIRE POST, then reply.

I've read it.
Basically, I guess I want to know if:

Is "church" a concept invented by man, or by god [if there is one]?

Ah, the core of the uncooked cake :)

NO ONE CAN ANSWER THIS, because NO ONE KNOWS FOR SURE! You can believe, which i have no problems with, but there is no solid proof.

I mean, many people will say that there is proof, but there really isn't. Everything about religion comes from the perspective of man. No matter what it is. Be it the miracle, the future of what is to come, the bible? All were written by someone, and from that someone's perspective. That guy that wrote Genesis? Wrote it from his perspective (and the bible has been altered so. . .many. . .times. . .)

It's kind of hard to believe in something because someone tells me to, or because they try to scare me into it (usually accidental).

EDIT: Don't let other people run your life (like so many people in this world do. . .) Do something because YOU want to, not because of an unnecessary fear.

-No man can answer your religious questions, because, despite the "archaeological finds," no one knows for sure. Religion dates back so far that it's not even funny.

I guess I'm just going to believe, seeing as how most people are Christian or follow some kind of organized religion.

I'm tired of being different and being ridiculed by others because of no religion. I guess it's about time I conformed to society.

Deeper into the center.

You wish to conform because you're not accepted. . . and you need a "family" to go to.

You have low self esteem, and there are several people like you who are different, blah blah blah.

Stop trolling.

This isn't about religion, but your lack of attention. Why do I even waste my time. . .

You don't have to tell them your not a Christian or don't believe in a god or gods.

How exactly are people ridiculing you?

You don't have to tell them your not a Christian or don't believe in a god or gods.

Exactly. It's not their business what you believe in or not. Also, the persecution thing can end by your hand in an instant. You don't have to put up with it. . .

I'm not trolling.
It IS about religion.

I used to be Buddhist, but I guess I'm not anymore since I don't go to the temple [kind of like a church for Buddhist people].

. . . I'm sorry to use this language, but you are a fucking retard.

Not going to the temple doesn't mean you're not Buddhist. Just because you don't go to church doesn't mean you're not a christian.

Church is a place of worship. Is that the only place you can fucking worship? No, it's not. This is one of the dumbest misconceptions. . .ever. just because you don't do something in that religion doesn't mean you're no longer of that religion. SAYING and BELIEVING you no longer believe in that religion is what disowns you from it . And THIS is why organized religion, in my opinion, is bullshit. It's because of dumb fucks (maybe like you, but I'll slide it) that abide to the fear of conformity just to fit the fuck in and "be accepted" by other pricks who conformed to fit the fuck in.

In the end, you're just fooling yourself, due to the fact that:

-You're joining something you don't know jack shit about. . .
-You're joining something because some person scared you the hell into it. . .
-You're joining something without first researching. . .
-You're thinking like a fucking retard with low self esteem. . .

And this will eat at your soul until you admit it to yourself. . . You don't believe something because some zealot TOLD YOU TO , but because you fucking WANT TO

And this is my last post in this thread (until deemed necessary). I've not time to feed into the bullshit you're posting. . .

and if you really are 13, then your mind is of the ripest age to be manipulated, no matter HOW smart you are. Go learn about the world on your own, and stop believing the bullshit people spoon-feed you. Believing everything without first analyzing it is called being NAIVE .

(yes I'm pissed, and I'm not downing ANYONE'S religion in this. It's the topic starters idiot-ness. . .)

I have not read the entire thread, but I'm going to jump in anyhow. If you really want to follow christianity, the BEST way to do so is read the Bible and try to follow its ways. Keep in mind that organised religion nowadays is very ritualistic, and most these rituals have pagan roots.

Religion is something you should have in your heart, and NOT something tied to physical space and time (such as church).

PS: the Bible states that there is no hell after you die. You die, go into a state of non-existance (think of it as sleep) until Jesus returns a second time. He will bring back those who believed in him and take them to the kingdom of heaven (I like to think of it as not a place, but another dimension). The sinners will be left dormant for a while, untill they are also brought back. They get to spend 1000 years on earth with the Fallen Angels (who apparently will make the sinners miserable). After this period of 1000 years, Satan and his forces will try one last attack against God. This is where God puts his foot down and destroys all the sinners along with the demons, for eternity.

I became a Christian when I was 13. Then at 18 when I smoked weed I stopped being a Christian and after taking LSA (acid like) I got really into yoga. I think it was because I became more aware of how absurd Christianity is and that all religions lead to the same God. But whatever floats your boat.

lol I dunno if thats the best argument against being pressured into a religion. Still, the end part is kinda true, they are all very similar, also, whatever floats your boat.

Believe that Jesus Christ was the son of God who died for your sins and that salvation is only attained through him. :)

That's pretty much it, after that though it's good to read the bible and go to church to meet with other Christians who can help you with your new faith. :)

No they're not! Christianity is the only "religion" where salvation can't be attained through works.
