Have anyone ever met some? Has anyone ever roamed India with some?

If so, what was it like, what are they like? Hows the pot?

Everyone, whats your general opinion of a Sadhu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sadhu)?

I always thought they did. In circles, and out of chillums.

For meditation and reflection I suppose, and as a sacrifice or something similar to Shiva.

Oh, and I just remembered something else! I thought their (or at least certain sects) idea of 'heaven' was chilling with Shiva, smoking hash for eternity.

On the other hand, the wiki article doesn't mention anything about pot.

...where am I getting that from then....

Dont most hindu's believe in purity of the body. So no drugs, no booze, etc.

Hindus and buddhists DO NOT do pot or any other drug in that sense. they meditate hard

buddhism and hinduism are very closely related.its said that the buddha was a hindu before he found buddhism

one of the main differences is between the two is that hindus pray to a lots of gods like. they beleve heavily. thats also one reason that beef is taboo to hindus. they beleive the cow is a vehicle of some god or is a god itself i dunno.

buddhists have nothing to do with gods. i mean in the sense of praying to the gods for stuff.

gods are related to buddhism in a diff way
if you say like the human being is like the middle level gods are like a few tiers up. they do not have physical bodies. they have way more pleasures than human ever experience in a lifetime.

if you develop ure mind you can ascend the ranks and become a god. and the same happens if you do bad stuff. youll be born in lower realms like prethas and as animals

But both hindus and buddhists meditate. buddhists only meditate and they worship the buddha as gratitude for showing them the path to nibbana, not as christians pray to god like god is a superpower.buddha preached that hes a ordinary human like you and me. but the onoly difference is that he has developed hes mind to a very great extent.

probably the wiki article about the religious use of marijuana.

Okay, so I looked around wiki for that and found this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiritual_use_of_cannabis) and within that, this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiritual_use_of_cannabis#Hindu_use).

...Reference to the almost universal use of hemp drugs by fakirs, jogis, sanyasis, and ascetics of all classes, and more particularly of those devoted to the worship of Shiva [Sadhu], will be found in the paragraphs of this report dealing with the classes of the people who consume the drugs. These religious ascetics, who are regarded with great veneration by the people at large, believe that the hemp plant is a special attribute of the god Shiva, and this belief is largely shared by the people. Hence the many fond epithets ascribing to ganja the significance of a divine pro-party, and the common practice of invoking the deity in terms of adoration before placing the chillum or pipe of ganja to the lips...

Seems that is where I got that idea.

A true sadhu would not smoke pot..

if you actually believed they did.. I gotta call you a dumbass.

Some sadhu's twist and bend the truth to their own ways and may do it, just like how you guys think stealing from walmart isnt a bad thing, but I am sure there is no half-sadhu out there, either he is one, or he's a con.

There's alot of con-sadhu's out there and I'm sure they are the ones that do pot, in which case they are not sadhu's at all but normal people dressed like one and maybe conning for money donations in the process. This is the simple answer.

This is the simple answer.

So...do you know anything not pot-related about them?

That would have been nice to include.
