I haven't gotten this completely worked out yet, this is not essay worthy yet.

I was thinking about the commonalities between different issues that religious people, specifically Christians concern themselves with. It occurred to me that a majority of these issues are based out of a conflict trying to separate humans and animals.

Sex: Many if not most animals are not monogamous. This is a point where humans are supposed to be superior.

Abortion: Much like animals, humans do away with their young if they cannot support it. Its better for it to be RU-486 than a dumpster in an alley. At least humans aren't eating their young.

Evolution: "There is absolutely no way we could come from some stupid monkey!" Case in point.

Any other ideas that fall in line and help support this hypothesis?

i think its more about building and maintaining a society, than some sort of motive to separate ourselves from animals.

the argument can go back and forth on this point, but regardless of your opinion on religion, the truth is that what got us to where we are today started back then.

perhaps it wouldve happened another way, and probably did in some cases, but who cares? you can dislike [sometimes rightly] the things that have went on in history, but all in all, the outcome at this point said the experiment worked to a large degree.

this is pretty much just a secular, academic argument. great for what ifs, not worth much otherwise.

It specifically says in genesis God put animals on earth for us to use too.

Plus, animals are viewed as stupid and out of touch with God....yeah.

The bible also says there is no real difference between us and animals. Ecclesiastes 3:18 >>

18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.

19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.

20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.

21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?

It seems every single value of Christianity can be contradicted with every single value of Christianity.

and the values left untouched are either ignored or hidden
