What's you guys' opinions on the movie/musical?

My dad isn't very religious, but he pretty much based his faith in God around the movie. I first saw it when I was five, and being the naive, un-jaded little kid I was, Jesus dying made me sad.

But nonwithstanding, I thought it made some good points, especially the idea that Judas wasn't the evil guy like mainstream Christianity portrays him. He was a very human and believeable charachter.

I grew up watching this, and I'm wondering what are you all think.

On a side note, the King Herod part was REALLY gay.

never watched it. Greek kids don't indulge in those types of movies.

either way, I'm a deist so it really doesn't matter.

Just what the world needs--the Bible for Dummies.

Both were, in my opinion, trivialized, vulgar, and mildly offensive.

I'm afraid I disagree. Normally I get worked up by Jesus films and their disregard for historical correctness.

But I enjoyed JCSS and still sing some of the songs...

Sad I know.

But it did stress a point often overlooked, that Jesus was probably the shining rainbow sex god of his day and there are interesting hints in the NT how he went out of his way to quash this fame at first ('tell no one' etc).

I'm sure if Jewish girls back then had had knickers they would have been waving them instead of palm branches when he rode into Jerusalem. Which is interesting as he was probably crippled or deformed. But then again Hitler was a sex symbol (not comparing Hitler to Jesus of course but he was one ugly fucker).

Remember people, they were no different back then. We forget that at our peril.
