Allright, back in the day, I found a mod on google. It showed how you can enter any frequency without any gaps. It was a keypad mod. I searched google today and I cannot find it anymore. I used to rememeber it by heart, but now I just can remember the sequence to use. Is this scanner any similar to any others? Perhaps, I looked up a different model of a scanner, and the mod worked on mine as well.

I think what you do is. You press MAN. Then you enter a frequency. Like 511.0000. Then after that you restart the scanner it goes up from 511.0000 without just skipping to 823.0000. I saved a lot my frequencys in the MON mode. Where I can get celluar frequencys and ranges up to 999MHZ. I just forgot how to do it, and I really need some help.

Are you specifically asking for what the cellular frequencies are? I guess trying to be intelligent and read this early in the morning escapes me.

No, not really. First, I'm asking if the Pro-2030 is similar to any other model. For instance, the motherboard. I googled and googled all day today, and I cannot find a website that has information to do the keyboard code bypass. I get plenty of mods saying you have to cut this and that. But, back in the day, you didn't have to open anything whatsoever. You just trick the scanner into not skipping frequencys. As long as you don't manually scroll up in frequencys, it just keeps going until it hits 999.0000mhz, then it starts back a 1mhz. Now, I realize that cell phone frequencys are irrevelant since everything is becoming digitalized.
If you know any websites that are somewhat hidden, like totse, that has information on scanners and mods and such. Specifically, radio shack or realistic. That would be greatly appreciated.

Ohhhh......I get it now. I don't really have much knowledge when it comes to hacking scanners to do things they weren't intended to do. For the record, though, who made the particular scanner you're using?

It's a Radio Shack. But some call it a Realistic, since its from the same state and county.

Firstly there are PLENTY of fon (cell, portable,s voip.. etc..) activity to listen in on!!

.. the old 40mhz,

.. 900/1900 (and other freqs) BEFORE they are encrypted (and some are NOT always encrypted anyways),

.. old (and possibly newer) satellite receivers are GREAT for picking up LOCAL microwave transmissions.

.. Voice Over IP (Voip) must have lazy folks who don't use or have good encryption.. this is something I have not messed with (yet).

And this is just what I, a non 'fon' person knows... goto Network Security & Hacking (i know, it changed it's name to something less threatening, or whatever..).. and they *hopefully* will help you to kick arse more in this area.

Ahhnnd MOST importantly, don't listen to anyone who says you can't doit..

They tell you this because either they don't know how to, or they are tooo lazy to figure it out.

You can do.. anything :)

* Btw cutting out components was a sure fire way to mod many of the older scanners.. sooo if you find any illustrations, they are one way to go.. and they are not as difficult as you might think.

Also you might try a local ham club or buy a manual from a place that sold that model which aloud the procedure you are trying to do.
