View Full Version : What religion suits me?

I'm having trouble trying to figure out what my belief system is called.

Physical creation theory:dunno really

Spiritual creation theory: Souls are created from one source, not particularly an entity, because it would be far too complex to have a single name. Although I guess it could be referred to as simply "the source" though I am hesitant to call it so.

Afterlife: reincarnation, when the soul learns enough it advances...I can't think of what to...part of why I'm trying to find a religion that suits me.

Practices: forms of magick and divination accepted, no "believe me or suffer" bullshit.

Thats about all I can think of for now, any help would be very nice. Thanx in advance.

Have you perused the Bhagavad Gita? I like the Penguin book by Juan Mascaros. He does a nice Buddhist 'Dhamapada' too.

Sounds like you should be a Mormon.

"The source" reminds me of their spirit babies, and at the higher levels they get into occult stuff.

Read Power, Freedom, and Grace by Deepak Chopra. Everything you mention is consistent with what he calls the new paradign.

Mormon? Are you trying to insult me? Mormonism is ridiculous to me.

You could give the Belief-O-Matic a try.

Moonmeister: Where did you here about CKUA?

Already have, pretty much every time it comes up neo-pagan...but which one? Asatru? Druidry? Wicca? This is what I'm trying to figure out.

You're welcome to join my religion if you want.

It's built upon a foundation of empty bottles, baggies, and a heart full of love for my fellow man and what may or may not be beyond us.

Physical creation theory: See Big Bang Theory, Abiogenesis Theory, Evolutionary Theory
Spiritual creation theory: Each soul is a small part of a collective God.
Afterlife: All existence is an arrangement of energies and masses. Your body and soul (along with everything else that dies) will be broken down, salvaged, recycled, and reborn into a trillion different things.
Practices: Partaking in the spiritual herb n' juice, singing, dancing, social gatherings. The only ceremony is the Braving. It involves facing your fears one on one and conquering each of them as they come.

Rules: Be true to your individuation.

Pretty much the same thing I said with a couple of added details on my unedited starting post. Good none the less though! Please keep em coming.

You're the one who said you believe in reincarnation and "the source". :p

Not quite what I meant by the source. In fact I am reluctant to call it even that. Oh well...

I haven't read the thread.

"What religion suits me?"

Find out what you believe in yourself. Believe in that and nothing more nothing less. You don't have to call yourself Christian/Muslim whatever to be religious.

Make up your own mind.

It might do a bit to read the thread. I'm actually just looking for something to call my belief system besides "spiritualism" or wicca.

oh I have pretty much no use for this thread anymore so....

i know you want to put yourself under a lable, but you really dont have to... your beliefs are your beliefs and who the fuck cares what it called? the only benefit of puting yourself under a title is telling someone what religion you are, but you can get your way out of that one with just saying 'well its complicated, and i dont even understand it myself... so yeah, you know...' works every time... no one will question it.

And if you already know that you are in the spiritual/wicca sorta thing, you dont need to be under a specific sect... just say that you're wiccan and its all good

Belef-o-matic calls me a Theravada Buddhist. I'm a Taoist, but alright.

Just find what you believe, rather than another box to fit yourself into.

Be spiritual and follow your own path. You don't need a religion.

If you really want to follow something though-then satanism seems to be the way to go, you don't worship any god because you are your own god (your spirit). read up on it.

Yah, why do you 'need' a religion?

Scientology almost fits the bill in ways, but I don'
t think there's anything out there that meets your specifics, but you can always make your own religion

The belief-o-matic thinks I should be taoist
