i dont follow any specific religion. but i am a very religious person. i practice what i would consider to be my religion by the use of psychedelics.
so heres a theory i came up with while tripping...
its my theory on god. its that god is not an entity, but is actually an energy that everything in existence contains. god is the big bang, the burst of energy that set everything into motion and is constantly reverbrating through existence and is displayed in all that is thought to be "good"
i could elaborate more if necessary, but what do you all have to say about this?
I would like to hear you elaborate more on this... but I find it funny that even somebody who follows no religion, would take a bunch of psychedelics and somehow set out looking for a god. If this "underlying non entity of a force" is what you think it is... why call it a god at all? Why does it have to be a god?
Everything we think of as good is not GOD, rather it is what we think of as good. Just realize, it doesn't have to be more than that.
But before I shoot down your dreams here... please do go ahead and further elaborate. This is what this forum is for!

ok, well first off i only call it god to give a sense of what im saying. personally i call it the divine energy. the spark that set the fire if you will.
but to man, this energy is seen in the manner that the perciever will interpet. to be incredibly basic, GOD IS GOOD. i interpret that as god is all that is good. each person sees this energy in their own way. some attend church to feel its essence. and to some, it may be a simple pleasure such as waking up in the morning that allows them another beautiful day of being alive.
this energy, as omnipresent as it is, is often overshadowed by physical reality. but i think that through psychedelics one can become more in tune with it and gain the ability to notice it (which is why psychedelics often leave people in a good mood)
i figure that this energy is in each one of us as well. it manifests itself through care and compasion for our fellow man. basically god is everything that is good in this world.
that being said, i think that that is the basic idea behind religion, but they just took it too far and took everything to be literal. the bible is filled with metaphors, so what is to say god is not just another metaphor for the "right thing to do" or basically the energy of goodness.
for example, religious people say that god is with you when you are choosing the right. well maybe god is just the feeling you get when you know you are doing something good. or god is all that is right.
and then that would also make hell/satan an energy. this energy manifests itself in you when you feel like shit, or feel like doing something evil.
you could even say that god is the energy of life and prospering
its all based around human perception really, though
sorry if i was repetitive or nonsensical at any point. im pretty stoned. ill probably give more/better description tomorrow. also, its kind of hard to express in words. :/
oh, and i use psychedelics to find myself. and i found god within. it was just a bonus really.
if you want an idea of my religion look into mysticism
Maybe... but its possible tomorrow you won't be able to make much sense of it either, haha. I've spent my time on psychedelics... and the reason you're having a hard time explaining this theory, is because it was developed through the mental "clarity" of psychedelics.
Although I guess, if I do understand what you're getting at, this theory is essentially something that cannot be disproved... because it doesn't seem to really be making a point at all. It's really not doing anything more than changing the words "perceived good" to "divine energy", and "perceived bad" as "negative energy" or whatever you'd want to call it.
Lets not get too caught up on grammar/word choice here. You say tomato, I say tomato, you know?
It sounds, and I could be wrong... like the only reason one would develop this theory would be to be able to freely and consciously say that "God exists."
But if you take the God out of God... why does God have to exist?

thats the purpose. to not say anything definite, because nothing IS definite. because to be definite there cannot be anything at all that could possibly say or be otherwise and disprove the statement. mysticism is basically full of open ended statements based on the thoughts, feelings, and experiences of the one (myself) another good example is that a believe that somewhere in the universe exists another form of intelligent life. in the infinity of this universe there almost has to be, just because of the odds. can it be disproven? no. can it be proven? no. yet it remains a very valid statement. i mean hell, for all we know we could just be a subatomic particle, on an atom (our solar system) that actually composes some higher form of life. i really hope that in the afterlife we recieve the answers to all of our questions. true enlightenment. or possibly our energies are transfered from death to birth again and we are reborn. such may be the cycle of life
and if god, or some other energy, doesnt exist then what explanations are there for the fact that anything exists?
something had to start it all. even if all it did was create an expansive space and fill it with dirt and other shit. there had to be some spark to create life. its not like energy came from nowhere.
as einstein said, "energy is never created nor destroyed, just transfered on"
god doesnt have to be some almighty entity, its simply life. we are all born with a touch of the divine, and when i say all i mean everything.
it just wouldnt make sense for there not to be a "god".
im going to go to sleep. if you have anymore questions or statements ill be on top of them sometime tomorrow

?
I would take issue with this. If you do not follow a specific religion, you cannot be "religious." Look the words up. What you are trying to say is, I think, that you are a spiritual person.
Furthermore, I think you are a doper who uses a spurous argument to justify/rationalize your drug use.
Your theory about God is hardly new, nor original. Most modern thinkers would more or less agree with you--Stephen Gaskin, Deepak Chopra, Neale Donald Walsch, Wayne Dyer, my wife and myself, to name but a few.

So, god = matter, or "thing in itself"?

The problem is that "god" is as word that can freely be defined as just about anything. In your case, you define god as the Big Bang or as energy, which makes zero sense, but so does any and all religion. The word "god" means absolutely nothing because there are an infinite number of definitions for it.
