If Satan is the great deciever of men and his greatest trick was convincing the world he did not exist what would be the greatest deception of all?

Christianity.

Look at the past history of the Christian faith. It is mired in evil-doing. I will invoke of course the Inquisition, but also think of the corruption that existed in the church in the dark ages. Think of how Christianity prolonged the dark ages by executing and imprisoning men of science and how many lives that has cost even to this day. The religion has set us back from the intellectual and scientific point we are at today. Not to mention the Crusades or as I like to call it one of the first military quagmires. So much blood has been spilled on and over the holy land it is no longer hallowed ground. It is no longer holy.

Look at today. Child molesting...Jesus Camp...Bush administration...Abortion Clinic Bombings. If this is a religion of a loving god...what has Satan done to bring about the ruin of man? Christianity has left nothing for Satan to do. It just seems to me that Christianity AS A WHOLE has been so bad for humankind since it's inception that there is little to no room for the Devil to fuck us up.

Which leads me to the conclusion that if God and Satan are real then I contend that the Christianity today is the work of the great deciever the prince of darkness, ladies and gentlemen....Lucifer.

The case may simply be that the deception runs further than you can see at first glance.

If it were truly the case, then those whom truly follow satan in their hearts would be able to deceive others into believing that they are respected members of the christian community, and as such defile it's holy purity of it's true meaning.

But yeah, power corrupts - and christianity has a whole shitload of power.

I consider myself a partial Christian, but you make a lot of excellent points here that I have thought about my whole life.

A lot of Christianity's history has been nothing but pure evil - The pope excommunicating people from their lands just because he feels like it, the Inquisition killing people off like terrorists, and the Crusades were a gigantic fucking joke.

However Christianity itself does not teach these behaviors, that behavior was the work of a bunch of idiots who let their power get to their heads. They were misguided fools, and most of them suffered for the destruction they caused... eventually.

What goes around comes around. If you try to live a good life and try your best not to harm others, others will be respectful of you and will want to live in peace beside you, not against you.

But if you create war and kill people for sport, someone's eventually going to get pissed off and avenge the death of their mother/father/sister/brother that you killed/harmed due to your arrogance and stupidity.

There are plenty of bad things in Christianity's history, but there are also a lot of good things as well.

It's a balance of good and evil, no doubt.

I don't see the bombing of abortion clinics as a bad or evil thing.

I keep promising myself that I'll start denoting to such groups again.

It is a principle of faith that inorder to save the life of innocents any crime or sin is 'allowed'.

Damn, I dont want this to turn into an abortion thread.

What about the question I raise as to the fact that if christians are right and Satan is the trickiest dick of the trickys then wouldnt the greatest trick of all be the new testament, Jesus and Christianity.

That all the principles of Christianity appear good. Who shouldn't love their neighbor and you should not murder or steal and the teachings of Jesus; turn the other cheek and all that shit. Can this all not be designed in such a way that by looking at the peices we cannot determine it is evil but by putting together all the faithful cogs (individuals) and making the machine (Christianity) it is a device of pure evil.

I believe that if the devil were real that this is the only thing that could be a true testament to the most deceptive and evil creature this universe knows.

The idea isn't new (but then again nothing in religion is-as it also says in the bible).

However you have to remember I don't believe in the devil nor do I find him in the bible so I'm not really the one to answer this.

I am an athiest. I do not believe in a great evil force such as the devil either. I present the question for those who do believe.

Do you believe the devil mentioned in the bible refers to a completely internal force within the hearts and minds of humans?

You aren't saving anyone, people who miss their appointments because of the bomb drive to the next clinic. You just managed to murder the kids that were going to be aborted, their mothers and everyone else in the building. Including the people who just went to the clinic for pregnancy tests. Good job Hitler

I can't believe Roloffle isn't in yet.

Overall, you make a good point. I've thought about this; what if Christianity was created by the Devil just to fuck us up? What if we got it wrong from the beginning?

All I know is Christianity has brought misery everywhere it goes. Not the individuals that make up the machine of christianity, not the pieces, the congregation of these individuals and the allowing themselves to be led like sheep to the slaughter turns this apparently benign religion into a tool constructed by and for satan herself.

Even as a xtian I can't disagree with that :(

[11] And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
[12] And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
[13] And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
[14] And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
[15] And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
[16] And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
[17] And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
[18] Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

WOW.

That goes along with the original post perfectly. So according to the Christian myth here...the beast will perform miracles, and those not worshipping the image of the beast (jesus) to be killed. Wow, that is perfect.
