View Full Version : When Christianity has gone.

Every religion has had it's day. Old Greek Gods, Egyptian Gods, Norse, Mayan, and so on.
So when do you think Christianity will be over? I give it another 90 or so years, but what do you think will replace it? I'd say scientology, but they are creepy like the mormans and such, but they have most of our actors/musicians under their control and stuff :\
And you can't say christianity won't end, it is not that much different from many other religions that have gone under.

Never, unless we maybe go into a technological black-out. The world is not what it used to be. Ideas are not cut off from you depending on the geography which you occupy. And Scientology... no, what a bunch of bs that is. Poorest excuse for religion ever.

But what if a new prophet comes forth, and leads people onto a new religion? Jesus did it, although christianity ahs a sort of back up plan for that, they call the dood teh anti-christ. If a dood as charasmatic and influential as JC were to come about, all that technological and media things would serve as a channel to spread the new word O.o It would be like Cyber Jesus.
Does it matter? Religion is all lies.
Theres always gonna be someones ideas of how to 'live life', or make the best of whatever experience you're having, circulating around the world. Theres always going to be the greedy who try to use these systems to manipulate the masses. Theres always going to be foma and dogma, and wars over belief systems.
As long as people continue to recognize these lies and cheat each other, that is.
The real question should be when are we going to rise above all this, when will the majority of the world recognize the truth of things and live in compassionate harmony?
Or even further, will we ever reach a point where we collectively decided to stop breeding, and end the race?

But most people aren't willing to accept that there isn't anything after this life. I have and I am content with the fact that when I die I will be a heap of matter that can return to the universe and make all kinds of fancy things from stars to aliens :D
Also, people like the safety net of a religion.

Did I ever say there was nothing after death? Sorry, I disagree with that. Existence is all there is.
And yes, some people like the 'safety' a religion provides them, some people like the opportunities for manipulation it provides them, and some like to have something to make fun of others about so they can feel superior.
Because of all this dependence on illusions for whatever form of security they desire, I doubt the majority will ever transcend them.
Don't bother trying to change that which you have no control over. Some guy named Jesus apparently tried that awhile ago, look what his ideas have become.

Do you mean that a person cotinues to be after they 'die'?

I agree, religion is a way of controlling/being controlled and a way of thinking that your side is always right, no questions asked. Religion is an evil, following another doods god. I can respect spirituality, thats more of finding your own god.

Who knows. When ScreamingElectron is dead, he's dead. Maybe you'll experience him again, maybe an alternate, maybe nothing at all for an eternity. But the 'you' will always exist, it is all that is true. Aham Brahmasmi.

Religion isn't the only illusion observers of realities cling to for security.

The Greek (Hellenic) religion, and Norse religion (Odinism/Asatru/Wotanism) are very much still alive today.

This is true. You as you percieve yourself now will die, and thats it. The physical part of you has died, but the energy lives on. All your body is is a vessel.
the energy lives on.
Energy is used up by processes of the body.

Energy is used up by processes of the body.
Energy is never "used up", it can only be transferred.

At the begining of the age of aquarius, after the age of Pisces. Which is the year 2150, look it up.
Judaism is about 5000 years old (As we know it today) and is still going strong.
Correction: The Samaritan form of Judaism is 5000 years old and going strong (well, not that strong). Judaism as we know it today originated from the exile to Babylon in 586 BC so it's barely 3000 years old if that.
I reckon the new religion will be class-based and kind of like our current entertainment industry only insanely overdone. The class of bankers and financiers will put forward members of their extended families as celebrities and political leaders using technology and psychological tactics to convince they are more than human. The lower, middle and upper classes will take comfort in their own collective delusions and pretend they are more free than the other classes.
Excuse my pessimism
Islam is still young and growing. It's in the top 3, as far as population goes too. They've expanded from the middle east, into southeast asia, parts of south america, europe, and will easily become large minorities in all the western nations. This is scary cause, not only do they believe all the same bullshit the jews and christians do, but they tend to have a convert or die attitude and are willing to put their own lives on the line for their religion (something modern westerners only do for money).
I think the ideal situation would be that all ethnicities would get more in touch with the ancient values of their ancestors, possibly by bringing their indigenous religions back to life. These religions usually entail nature worship, animism, and complimentary dualism between their usual pantheon of gods. They also hold values like honor, strength, and justice over ones like pity and submission (abrahamic religions).

Very few people who came to be Christians are actually true Christians. I'd say that the term Christianity will last for a long time, but its meaning will be changes and wrapped even more than it is right now.
Now its considered Patriotic to do nothing against your leaders and to support all of their causes. It was not like that 400 years ago. Resistance is patriotic. Same concept.
Energy is never "used up", it can only be transferred.
False.

False.
True! Energy can pass into irreversible energy states and be unable to return to physical form, but it cannot be destroyed.
To OP: I would like to imagine the growing world community powered by this technology connecting everyone will bring about a movement of spiritual pantheism. Unique to the individual.

False.
Can you provide me with some proof that energy is just "used up"?
pcranequin

False.
Someone failed high school physics.
For all dissenters... I think we are saying relatively the same thing.
When he said energy cannot be used up, but can be transferred, I thought he was referring to energy cycling back through the top and back down. Which is, in fact, to the best of my knowledge, false.
I mean I'm no genius on the subject, and I'll admit that, but if I remember correctly energy is used and used and used until it is unusable. Thus... it becomes "used up"? No?
Please, do correct me if I'm wrong. My apologies go out, if I am.

I dont know how long christianity has left, it depends on many factors.
The electing leaders on a purely supernatural basis will prolong the agony of ignorance that is religion.
The third world is already suffering attacks from missionaries who destroy the unique and interesting cultures there. It will take some time to die out there as well as in educated industrailzed nations.
But it is enevitable that christianity will perish for this simple reason:
You offer nothing new. Havent for a loooooooong time.
Science offers new PROVEN answers daily and without NEW religious persecution will continue to do so.
Christianity will die off in the civilized world for this simle reason....we no longer require it.

The universe is composed of energy, "forms, such as kinetic, potential, thermal, electrical, chemical, nuclear, and mass have been defined to explain all known natural phenomena."[1] In all of existence, the matter visible to humans accounts for "Only about 4% of the total energy density in the universe (as inferred from gravitational effects)[2]".
All this stuff we can interact with is extremely volatile, there are reactions going on around us all the time, chemical, physical and metaphysical.
Frequently, in these reactions, the energy that composes physical matter is transformed (into heat, kinetic energy e.t.c.) and trapped in irreversible states- " This has been referred to as the inevitable thermodynamic heat death of the universe. In this heat death the energy of the universe does not change, but the fraction of energy which is available to do work, or be transformed to other usable forms of energy, grows less and less."[2]

I wonder what kind of metaphsyical reactions are going on... but yes eventually the universe will expand and cool down to the point where everything just stops. Absolute zero will be reached. Its like taking a cup of scolding hot water and dumping it into a body of cold water. Eventually the hot water will eventually spread uniformly throughtout the container. Now the problem is that our universe, our container, is ever expanding. The heat of that water gets diluted and with the container always growing it is spread thinner and thinner.
Atleast thats one theory...

Imagine the universe is a number. Any number you like (BUT NOT ZERO LOL!!!!). No matter how much you divide that number, it won't be zero. Even if something, that is the universe, were to become increasingly diluted through time, it would never cease to exist. I guess you could say, "BUT I WANT TO HAVE THE NUMBER ZERO LOL!!!!!" but that would be pretty stupid seeing as the universe definitely contains more than zero energy. You can look up this principle if you failed math and just never learned it. I think it has something to do with Achilles or a rabbit.

Actually what has confounded astronemers and cosmologist for a long time is that the universe is the same temperature throughout.
The universe is also expanding faster.....faster than the speed of light....this speed is growing which has given rise to the recent theory of dark energy that is more massive than all matter known to exist.
They call it dark matter b/c we cannot see it. It is more massive b/c it is pulling the universe at a faster and faster speed.
They turn the mathematical clock foward. Eventually everything will rip apart on the atomic level.

This is basically what i was saying. The temperature in space is pretty much the same no matter where you are in space, and with the increasing size of the universe everything in it will eventually reach a point where it expands so quickly that everything rips apart to the simplest form, which i would think would be energy.

That's kind of what they teach you in school. The universe tends toward entropy. I would imagine that the universe as a whole grows closer and closer to total disorganization over time.
