Hi, I am currently planning on going to university when I finish school to develop a form of broadband internet over shortwave and the likes. Just had a few questions:

What are the current standards for HF data?
What are the obtainable speeds now?
Do you think this could be greatly improved with digital radio?
Would it be viable to provide a form of "digital DSL"?

Cheers and may we all have free broadband one day!

From the little I'v researched on this I know the Hams use data transmissions through repeaters in both the Vhf and HF areas.

I believe the technology exists, but is not found yet, to utilize these bands to carry enough data to help people with at least limited InterNet access, should the current monopolies continue their destruction of the Net, as we know it.

I have not found much on this topic either, which means there probably isn't much, and what is, is being kept from us.

Sooo, back to the BatCave...
