View Full Version : Nihilism is actually Monotheism in disguise
All separate things are one.
The "nothing" is God. The "everything" is God. God is everything... and then some. Never beginning. Never ending. Too complicated for the human mind because of it's simplicity. Words can't describe it but an open heart and mind feel it. Find peace in the only permanent ___ . Comfort in everything else only lasts while it lasts. And everything else is impermanent, albeit a part of the permanent, destroyed and recreated at will into another impermanent by the almighty.

All things are neither seperate, nor similar to each other.

How exactly are you defining this term "god"?

Truth.
Then use the word "truth" in place of "god" so that we know what you are talking about. This will prevent countless people from wasting their time and internet bandwidth explaining that you are retarded.

Same thing. lulz
It's not the same thing to everyone. How about you be as lucid as possible when speaking of such things? Personally, I would never use the word "god" as a synonym for Truth. You're just inviting unnecessary bullshit from the meme-infected.

Anyone, in any part of the internet, who shows a chronic inability to make an argument, even a bad one, with a fair degree of clarity can be quickly written off as a pretentious asshole.
Unless they're being ironic, in which case they're even more of an asshole, but it may be funny. Unfortunately, I haven't seen moonmeister since my return to totse.
Nihilism states that there is no intrinsic meaning to existence. It's more of a tool than a philosophy, and is used to look at the world objectively as possible and abandon all dogmas, doctrines, and ideologies that may be deemed unhealthy. There's no good and bad, but there are things that work and things that don't. After realizing that there really isn't any default "meaning of life", you can then give meaning to life. Nihilism isn't any -theism because it realizes that theism is absurd. It isn't necessarily anti-religion though, it just prides a critical and analytical approach to them. A religion could be untrue (in terms of how it explains existence, or what have you) but still be healthy if it promotes useful values and has a non-destructive relationship with the individual, the whole, and all of existence.
In my personal experience, nihilism has been a tool I have used to look more critically at everything. I have moved away from being reactionary to creating anew. Instead of attacking Christianity I found that I learned and understood more by looking at it from an anthropological approach. When you look at it holistically, then break it down to see how certain beliefs or ideas can really shape a person or people, stuff makes a lot more sense. Still employing this approach, I began to study other religions. I was drawn to the polytheistic religions as they seemed to have a better relationship with science and nature. They also are a bit amoral.. much like nature, but not to the extreme. Personally I don't worry too much about ideas like gods and creation of the universe (a dose of big bang and norse myth cover that one for me).. I see deities and other icons more like literary devices, which are used as examples for human life. I don't really have the need for a God, but I do see things in bit of a pantheistic light and see mythological figures as great teachers and totems to assign values to. My major spiritual goal is to isolate the ancient values of my people and learn how to apply them to the modern world, and in doing this learn how to form a much better society for the future (Western Civilization isn't doing it for me, it's soulless, plastic, harmful, and it's collapsing.)

Excellent post.
Nurotik, Truth is a foundational virtue and to a religious or spiritual person the ultimate truth is synonymous with the ultimate realization of God. Nirvana, enlightenment and whatnot.

Ah, that explains it. I avoid that shit like the plague, unless something seems interesting in the little side bar, which has been suck on the animals forum for over a week now.

Yeah I know... well occasionally it's switched to my god can beat the shit out of your god, which is nice because the topics here are usually pretty interesting. I wish there was a way to control from which forums the hot topics are displayed from.
But back to the original subject...
