I remember this a few weeks/say 1-2 months ago. An aunt of mine was talking about how she should be "tuning into god"; as in a radio antenna, that people should look into and see this and connect to "god" this way. Well do you think this analogy is correct? Can you explain? Details? Information? Good, bad, or ugly analogy? Explain....

a question for those that think they talk to god: how do you know its really god your're talking to and not yourself?

She probably is repeating a half baked notion her preacher banged out on Sunday after writing it down on a cocktail napkin the night before.

Fuck man these people only work a couple of hours a week and make tax free bank you figure they would be a bit more creative than God is a ham radio operator.

a question for those that believe in god:

If god is perfect, than why did he create something that is imperfect?

I'm certain that most religious people don't claim to know God's motives. It's called faith.

Well do you think this analogy is correct?

Depends on how you take it.

I think through meditation we can "tune in" to the truest state of reality, which is the base of all things or God if you want to call it that. I'm talking about awareness of nothing, or simply 'being', of course.

Or by simply reflecting on the 'oneness' of all, during our everyday activities.

If god is perfect, than why did he create something that is imperfect?

Everything is perfect.

Perhaps she (knowingly or not) is referring to depths of consciousness, where you just feel more connected to the universe. Where you understand things so much more even tho you can't put it into words.
To tune into god means to perceive life for what it is.
Although it's not quite as easy as tuning a radio. Drugs are the easiest way but even those experiences are tainted.

I always wonder this. Although, maybe they are 1 and the same thing.

Imperfect in your eyes maybe, but maybe your judgements are imperfect in mine.
Maybe if you knew enough, nothing would be imperfect.

Does it matter?

YES it matters if you are praying to god or talking to yourself.

If it is yourself....you get a couple hours freed up on Sunday. You can fuck two women at the same time. You can curse. You can keep TEN PERCENT of what is YOURS. You can watch an R rated movie. You can become a more intelligent scientific minded person. When something bad happens in your life...you KNOW it is up to YOU to solve it (no more genies in the sky). You can finally MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!!! You can do all of this without guillt and get the benefit of self reflection or meditiation...what theists call prayer.

So yes it matters whether or not it is self reflection (without the need of a god) or prayer (completely dependant on imagination)

Saying a prayer when I feel I could use some help really doesn't stop me from doing any of those things

When something bad happens in your life...you KNOW it is up to YOU to solve it

This is a good thing? Most of the time people pray it's about something they can't do much about and knowing you're fucked probably isn't much of an improvement

I call BS on it. Although it didn't read it all, I can say

1.) Molecules haven't been entangled, only photons and electrons, and they never were further then 15 feet apart (although the math does predict that distance doesn't matter)

2.) This energy field is called the higgs field, not the quantum vacuum. It also hasn't been proven to exist.

3.) I read tons of scientific articles, I have never heard of "resonant fields" left in the higgs field, hell they still haven't even detected the higgs field

4.) Your memory being stored in this quantum energy field? Seeing how nerve cells are pretty fucking huge compared to atoms, and the particles that compose this energy field are minuscule compared to atoms, I would say its pretty fucking hard for that interaction to go down.

5.) The guys sites no sources.
