Inspired by AngryFemme, I decided to make a whole new thread devoted to this question. When does Christianity end?
There have been thousands religions over the past century's all of which have died out as time moved on or if the civilization that chiefly worshiped it was destroyed.
So the question is, when does Christianity die out?
maybe when atheists actually prove that there isn't a God instead of obsessing over the end of Christianity like they have a chip on their shoulder.

Burden of proof lies with the believer.
I prove nothing, i disprove their logical fallacies.

It is impossible to prove that god does not exist. We can, however, shine the spotlight of reason on the nonsensical beliefs which christianity depends upon.
Personally I doubt that christianity will die off any time in the near future, and honestly, I'm less concerned about christianity at the moment than I am about islam. The christians aren't out to convert-or-kill all non-believers...at least not yet.

I'd wager that it won't die off for many, many more generations. Actually, it seems like a gradual decline of Christianity would be better than a sudden decline, because surely the events that would lead up to a sudden decline would be major, maybe even disastrous ones. It seems like the snails-pace decline we're experiencing right now is barely worth celebrating, but I bet when history has the advantage of marking the progress, it'll be pretty clear that what seemed like secular-minded baby steps was actually giant leaps when viewed on Christianity's entire timeline.
Islamic belief becoming extinct first would sure be preferable, since immediate threat is greater - but imagine what kind of events would have to unfold for that to happen! They attempt to blow people to smithereens if their God is even depicted as an illustration. Imagine the frenzied chaos and destruction that would ensue if they felt their God was being downsized to just an antiquated, abstract non-divine idea that's about to expire.
Scary thought, that. :( They'll no doubt go out with a huge bang.
I like the slow decline too.
They lost alot of believers in 2000/2001 when the world didnt end. Now i guess the next big hyped date is 12/12/2012? Some mayan bullshit or something. After that day passes and were all still here, i bet another good chunk of people will start using logic and relise the time they are wasting holding there hads and talking to an invisible man.

Let people have their faith, I don't believe its affecting you, so why does everyone on Totse act like they are being inconvenienced in any way?

Not affecting me, you say?? What a tremendously rediculous supposition!
I'll not even touch on the obvious ways in which the (so called) peaceful religion of islam has affected my life, unless of course you would prefer I do so.
Christians, at least the evangelicals, are in an outright frenzy to gain control of the US government. I suppose having a government controlled by people with bronze age superstitions who have access to nuclear weapons doesn't affect me? Especially when many of them believe that jeebus will come down from the clouds some time within the next 50 years, bringing death and damnation to all non believers, and they can hardly wait for it to happen?
How about the fact that they are constantly pushing to have their version of religion taught in public schools? How about the fact that they are doing their absolute best to hinder any scientific or medical advance which they deem sinful? How about the fact that they feel the need to control what people do(or even think) in the privacy of their own homes?
It that enough, or should I continue?
The death of Christianity will come when the ancient values of our respective cultures are renewed. When our people are awakened and become alert to the blinders and bondage of the Abrahamic religions.
Most atheists equate all religions with the corrupted monotheisms of the middle east. They then begin to attack all religion, and end up missing out on a major function of it. Religion helps organize societies and preserve cultures. It's only failings come into play when it promotes unhealthy values, beliefs, or ideals and when it is corrupted by the politics of the church and whomever else uses the religion as a means for personal ends. Furthermore, religion becomes oppressive when it's adherents insist on converting other cultures to their religion.
Religion shouldn't be destroyed, but it should evolve.

Alright then, prove a cell capable of reproduction can appear by blind chance and then evolve into a complex multi-cellular life-form. :)

The death of Christianity isn't going to happen.
You will likely die in your sins, but when God casts you into hell and destroys this world there will still be people worshipping him in heaven. :p

I agree fully with this.

(Note--this question came up in another thread, and AF said the issue was thread-worthy on its own.)
First of all, what do we mean by "die out"? If you mean dead to the extent that there are zero Christians left, I'd say probably never. After all, there are still some folks around who take the old gods seriously--I know folks besides myself who take Tlaloc, the Aztec rain god, seriously.
However, it's influence is waning decidedly, as the Piscean Age dies and the Age of Aquarius is born. The religious right is no longer the potent political force it used to be. What with the huge scandals of pedophile priests (and thieving priests, which is getting much less media play because it is less sensational), the influence of the Catholic Church is waning.
My oracle says that Christianity will have ceased to be a significant social or political force by the end of this century.

Arms, Nebacanezh4r beat you to the punch on this. I just merged your thread into this one to keep it all under one umbrella.
P.S. I hope your oracle is correct on the social-political predicament.

Thank you for clearing that up--I had a WTF moment there.
Good job.

Some debated theories at least, since cells don't fossilize well.
As for this...

This is why you're a fucking idiot. The only redeemable thing about christianity would be the attitude Jesus is commonly known for for "love your neighbor" and here you are condemning people to hell with your sarcastic, deplorable, and disgusting emoticons. This is why I wish I could catch you in the act of writing one of your brainless posts; so I could shove your face into the nearest sharp object until you lost the smug grin from your face.
I'd rather spend an eternity burning in hell than have to share a single molecule of oxygen with you in heaven.

Why does someone always bring this stupid argument up? Are you saying a suicide bomber's faith doesn't affect the people he blows up? Yeah that's an extreme example, but it proves with out a doubt that beliefs has behavioral consequences. So, yes, someone believing in something stupid does affect me and society at large.

Christianity - the belief that a magical zombie Jew who was his own dad got himself nailed to plank to save mankind from a curse bestowed upon them by a woman made out of a rib who ate an evil apple at the suggestion of a talking snake.
Do I really have to justify not believing this?

The death of Christianity isn't going to happen.
If your church leaders really thought this a thousand years ago they would not have killed heretics by the village load.
Your saints and church founders feared the death of Chrisitianity. Church attendence has been declinging since the 60's. Billy Grahm's last revival failed to produce more groveling wallets for your corporate headquaters.
Your time has come. Your time will pass. Reason and logic WILL dominate the mindset of future generations. Science advances every day. Your religion remains unchanged. I hope you live to see the stagnation and decline of the faithful.
