Go about making his/her own local radio station? What equipment would SWIM have to buy?

The basic equipment is simple: transmitter, amplifier, antenna, mixing board (optional but strongly recommended), etc. A computer is nice to have, as are microphones and other audio sources like cassettes decks, CD players and turntables (although the last of these is long obsolete, they have that element of class). You'll also want to have a radio to listen to your broadcast and check that you're on-frequency and that the audio quality is sufficient.

Oh, and using SWIM is retarded. It does nothing to protect you, and besides, this thread is hypothetical by nature of the words even if you put "I" in for SWIM. Even using "one" for SWIM, as you did in the subject, would be better -- it's much more readable. Just thought you should know.

I agree with the second part of oddballz statement, SWIM is for the fags up in BI. Around here, you can use intelligent speak.

i believe you could run a radio station on a computer alone for music and stuff. virtual cart machines (cart being a throwback to the old days of cartridge machines) can play your music, liners, and ads when you want them, and all that.

never tried this thing but it seems alright.

a small board wouldnt be a bad idea, for say two microphones and a backup CD player. also, disable the background sounds in the computer you're using.
clicks and beeps and such that windows uses playing on-air are unprofessional.

those are a bit expensive though.

as for transmitters, good luck.
