With the mad mullahs in charge of Iran, has the Zoroastrian religion been driven off the Earth? It seems likely, since Islamic prayers (Salat) is clearly plagiarized from Zoroastrianism...

There are around 30,000 Zoroastrians still around, all in one community, iirc, though I can't remember where it was. I want to say in eastern India, on the coast, near a little country whose name I forget.

Yah, there are still groups of them in Iran, Pakistan and India. Mostly a result of a religion that doesn't accept converting others and Muslims surely killing off many of them.
Zoroastrianism--there's a religion that never sold out!

Don't worry, not many realise it was in fact founded by Zorro, and that beneath the religious exterior it is in fact dedicated to swashbuckling like a badass.
True Story.

One of the reasons there are so few of them is that it's an extremely ethnic religion. They don't accept converts. Again, iirc, they even strongly oppose copies of the Avestas being published outside their communities.
Edit: Hm, Wikipedia says many things differently from what I remember reading years ago. Specifically, ~200k alive world-wide, and at least one notable convert, which suggests that conversion is certainly possible.

My 1st year at OSU, my dorm roommate was one of these. He was a really cool guy, but sometimes a little of a bitch. Cock-blocked me numerous times. And then later found out he had this huge crush on my girlfriend of 2 years.
But all in all, he was a nice guy.
