Uhhh.. there is probably a good chance you might get at least a snide remark if you at least give us a little hint of what is wrong.

Many problems are generic to radios.. plus, and I hate to hear when others say it but...

Oh there used to be a place in (near Old Town, Fl)-- not the attraction (the city).

And near Gainesville there was one either on or just of I 75.

If it was a special radio to me, I'd pay the extra and have the company mod/fix it tho (or I'd take the time to learn how to doit myself, and be sure it was done right)

Well, its actually my old man's radio. From what I understand, after a lightning strike close by, the radiohas ceased to transmit. It receives perfectly, but it is unable to transmit. Apparently Yaesu no longer services these radios.

Ok, well if you are reallly serious about trying to get it working.. then it will take some patience.

First, it is hard to find any place that works on radios.. let alone a 'good place'.

Those places I suggested may not even be there.. it's been several years since I'v lived there.

But if you call up some truck stops near there, they may help since I think the one place near g was located in or near one (on or just off the I).

If you can get digital pics.. take the radio apart.. carefully.. and give us some shots from all angles... close ups of course.

Maybe we can spot a damaged part (burnt or whatever) and at least you'll know where you stand at that point.

Some of other guys here are pretty slick about diagnosing.. sooo just sit tight.
