I think he's trying to point out that 'Arabian Christians' speak the same language as Muslims and therefore, they address God as 'Allah', so he's trying to say look here, Muslims and Christians worship the same God (as if that hasn't been done to death millions of times before). Well, I think its fairly obvious they don't, seeing as Christians believe God is the trinity, three but one at the same time somehow, that the holy spirit is God, that Jesus was God and that God can actually become a human being, where as Muslims don't believe God is Jesus, they don't believe God is a trinity, they don't believe God could become a man, and Christians don't believe that God gave the Qu'ran as his final revelation. So it should be obvious that these two aren't the same God. Muslims and Christians just both claim that it was their God who revealed himself to Abraham.
Also, I don't think there's any proof, that before Islam, Arabic speaking Christians called God 'Allah', or that 'Allah' is definitely a contraction of 'Al' (The) 'ilah' (god).
