Would a just God punish his children for sin of another? If Adam is responsible for original sin, why would his decedents be punished, marked for Hell lest they repent?

This creates far too many loopholes for it to be believable. Retards, stillborn, mentally unstable, what if someone were raised in a family/community that was devoid of religion? Would that child be eternally damned for having parents that did not teach him of God or Christ?

I think it could make sense. It's the general peoples interpretations of it that's fucked up, mainly referring to eternal hell. Original sin might make perfect sense. It's usually better to work it out for yourself than to ask someone else.

A Rabbi once explained to me that it was more meant that we could do evil things rather than are already thought of as evil.

Something to think about

Some people are just crazy enough to think that if you were never taught anything about the bible/christianity, then you're fucked and you're going to jail.

That's what missionaries are for. It's so stupid. As if teaching secluded poor communities in third world countries about the bible is going to keep people from starving to death.

OP, while you're at it, try taking the notion a step further--reject the notion of "sin."

A sin is usually defined as an offense against God. God, being God--infinitely loving and accepting--cannot be offended.

God says in the bible that he will punish children for the inequities of the parents up to the fourth generation and for those who hate God up to the tenth generation.

If you reject the notion of original sin, you reject the bible being God's truthful word. Since you have rejected a part of the bible, you are getting closer to realizing religious freedom. It is a wonderful place to be, I cannot wait to fully welcome you to sanity.

I have never, and never plan to, read the Bible. I would rather form my own relationship with God and Jesus than have a mistranslated, man-made volume tell me what to believe.

I think it has been interpreted incorrectly. I believe he would also rather that we come to our own beliefs and have a personal, one on one relationship, rather than going through an organization to find him. He is no more in the church than he is in my living room, beside me on the couch. All I have to do is think, believe, speak. Listen.

I also believe that all people and cultures should be free to follow their religion.. to a point. Blowing up a kindergarten class with a twenty kilogram High Explosive device because they believe something different, are a different colour, are gay, whatever is an offense AGAINST God, or whatever name you call him by. Be it Muhammad, Jehovah, Allah, etc. MOST (read ALL, except for extremists) preach peace, understanding and respect for fellow me AND give some generall rules about not doing bad stuff.

I don't reject the idea of sin myself. But my understanding of sin is maybe a little different. For me it's something that hinders spiritual progress.... or maybe a demonstration of spiritual immaturity. Any kind of punishment for doing sinful acts are purely just natural consequences. In my eyes anyhoo.

It is best to not forget that your core ideas about God and Jesus came (perhaps indirect) from a person who has read that horribly corrupt and mistranslated piece of shit book.

You are merely elaborating on ideas brought forth by this text. You do not have to read it to be infected with the Christian meme. In fact, it is better for the meme if you do NOT read the book that spawned it.

It is a natural act to want to fuck a chick like an animal. It is a natural primitive desire. Stoning a couple people for wanting to fuck is not a natural thing.

All animals in the animal kingdom desire to mate. Their is many times conflict when it comes to getting a mate. This conflict rarely results in death or permanent injury.

That is the natural way of things. Sin is merely a tool for social control. Used to be you could not get laid without the fear of death unless you spoke to the ones controlling the pussy. Priests. Glorified pimps. Social control.

The greatest natural desire for man (or ANY living organism) is to pass on their genetic material AKA to fuck. Church controls fucking, thus controlling man. Pay up on Sunday or you can't get your pole waxed.
