It means "nice" not sympathetic...at least that's what I learned.

You are very nice.
Not nice like in English. From what I gathered in like two quarters of french class, it's less vague than it is in English. It's like, friendly and nice to be around.

hmm
well no matter the exact meaning its nice to recieve coming from this girl...
I hope you don't fancy her, because it sounds to me as if you are in the "friends zone".

'sympathy' means something different in many european languages than it does in english although we still have that meaning in chemistry I'm told (two chemicals are sympathic).
Anyway you could translate it 'I feel very comfortable' with you.
It doesn't mean you're going to get laid but its a start.

What you doin' talking to a cheese eating surrender monkey if you can't understand when she says you are really nice?! :p
Not to sound like a cunt or nothing...But if you search on Google for something like "french to english translator", you can usually get a pretty cool Java based translator.
I used to use it when I was trying to learn Russian. I stopped learning because my reason to learn dumped me! :D

It means you're nice.
(In Russian, the cognate means "pretty", FYI).

It means "You are very nice," but firekitty pretty much nailed it there. Nice in French is more like... pleasant, or even so far as not unpleasant, than it is like the traditional English meaning of nice.

Check out the big brains on Brad. We already got it. Christ, I'm gone for two days and a ton of old threads are bumped.

Close, but it really has no exact English equivalent.
I'd say, she likes your style, however.
And the fact that she used the intimate "tu" rather than the more formal "vous" has got to be good.

This thread is made of fail.^
It means nice. That's it. That's all.
"Tu", btw, is what all young people use with each other.

I was expecting some huge paragraph when I clicked on this thread... but this is easy.
The general meaning was "You are very nice." Just like everyone else has been saying :).

we only speak french in my house (i live in belgium, flanders, where they speak dutch)
and yes, as most of the replies, it means 'you are very nice'
and it is something that puts you in the friend zone
could be more tho...

it means you have to work a little harder to stick it in her . . . I think.

this by far
is the most qualified motherfucker ive seen in this particular thread
Sympathique in french(or lets say european) is a mix between nice, outgoing and friendly/warm personality.
At least thats what school taught me in the younger days.
