Loved the guy. Will miss him greatly.
Don't get me wrong, I always thought of him as the sort of guy that meeting in person with him and knowing his true identity would mean almost certain death...
However, I really loved what he stood for and how he did such a huge part in making RogueSci what it is today. I have read countless posts of his... now i believe i have not read enough. I don't really think anyone will be filling his shoes anytime soon.
"By sheer force of will in his posts, NBK browbeat and intimidated the kewls until they shut up." - AKA in that kind of forum setting flaming to a crisp and having moderation powers can work.
"RIP NBK
i´m very thankfull, that he builds up this great Community for sharing wisdom, opinions and of, course science" -about 3 posts from the start... from a member with only 2 posts... NBK would be rolling over in his grave :(.
I hate how the first few posters are complete noobs to the forum...
I'll really miss The Beast...:(

I used to lurk a lot over there, NBK definitely came across as knowing his stuff.
RIP NBK.
Everybody has to go some day ...
It's still a surprise when somebody with such a strong and enigmatic personality who seems immortal just disappears.
Edit - Spelling, normally I wouldn't bother, but out of respect, ya know...

He was one of the ones who inspired me when I first got started. BUT if he went then he went, and that's fate, he fulfilled his purpose here on earth and that's it. Let's all just hope his purpose wasn't posting some text that some asshole terrorist gets a hold of and uses for teh evilz.

Although I never really liked his ultra-survivalist mantra, and extreme hatred for anything related to authority; he was probably one of the most knowledgeable people in this particular fiery corner of the internet bar none.

Having communicated with the guy on several occasions... He was quite honestly a psychopath/ antisocial personality case by clinical definition. The world is a better place with his death.
Knowledgeable? Extremely. Evil? Unquestionably.

None of you know wtf you are talking about.
I'm surprised warweed and some of the others are talking the way they are.
Man, fuck you guys.
DTP has a decent grasp of what's going on, and so do I.
NBK is dead?
If that's true, then I suppose I and a few others have less to worry about.
The dumby nigger is gone, and many don't have to put up with the following:
1. His stupid, iron hand tactics when he makes the same mistakes he punishes others for.
2. His inability to truly discuss science on an educated level beside kewlish bullshit.
3. His implicit neo-nazi propaganda.
He was in my definition, a kewl that was given a moderator power at roguesci. He was no master of technical writing; therefore, he had no reason to shell out damage to whomever used improper English.
I've always seen his posts as a good find, but never empirical or scientific enough for me. He had a ground of knowledge, but it didn't always impress me. Sometimes he simply took his finding from the other researchers that were doing stuff. It's debatable, and I won't bring up the past too much. Also, some people rather keep quiet these days.
If none of you are aware of #3, I suspect you're still a kewl.
If there was one thing to like, it was his survivalist nature. Sadly, however, he failed at employing it. It was a cornerstone of his philosophy, and it made for interesting discussions. I was glad to know more people had that attitude in the world. However, he was not the anarcho-communist kind of person; therefore, him and I did not get along.
NBK pissed off a lot of scientists for a lot of different reasons.
If you know the truth, a lot of current science website owners/admins and moderators don't want anything to do with roguesci anymore. And I don't blame them. That's not to say they don't read an interesting article when it appears. One of the reasons is how NBK treated them.
I'm also curious as to whether or not vulture is/was NBK.
There was a time when one of the major web chemists thought I was NBK.
I'm curious as to whoms post count will die/decrease in the next while among the Internet realms.
And anyone who's been around the block knows that posting in that roguesci thread is +1.
BWA HA HA HA HA HA!
