View Full Version : Do Christians actually read the New Testament or learn about the religion?

I always wondered this. Every day I see Christians doing just about every single thing that is in contradiction of the new testament and Jesus' beliefs. Most have never even heard of the counsel of 300, know when the Gospels were written, and by whome they were written. Some things that most Christians do goes completely against Christs teachings. Sometimes I wonder if Christians have actually read the New Testament.

Examples of stupid things Christians do that go against Jesus and logic.

Praying. Praying not only doesn't make sence, Jesus actually tells us that it's a waste of time as well as blasphemous. The reason is that God is omnipresent morons, and by praying your slapping God in the face thinking you have to tell him things he already knows. Jesus does say if you are basically retarded and must pray, it should only be the lords prayer in total privacy, and nothing else. However you'll be judged for being ignorant.

Jesus hates the Church. In the New Testament Jesus flips out in a temple after seeing the people who were running the temple had a market set up in the temple and were counting gold. He then declared that all those who attend church are heathens and only do it for their own personal image to glorify themselves, not God. So any Christians that attend church are not in Christs' good books and you will be judged for ignorance.

Jesus forgives. This is True, however he punishes too and you must be judged if you are not a truly righteous person. Most aren't so he might forgive you but you probably won't get into heaven if you're a sack of shit like most people.

I'm not a Christian, I don't follow any religion and feel religion is merely the futile answer to questions with no answers so stupid people's heads don't explode. It's impossible to know if there is a god or not, and only liars and crazies think they know.

Apparently all Christians are too pathetic to even attempt defending their religious practices.

They're hypocrites, or maybe just ignorant. I remember when

I converted I started attending Sunday school and I'd be

taught the doctrines, later I'd memorize bits of the Bible on

my own. I'm sure how much the congregation is

pressured to "study" varies from church to church.

You're right, supposedly God is all knowing yet we still have

to pray to him for our needs. However, Jesus himself prayed

and so did many others in the Bible. But still, that kind of

confused me as a Christian, because Jesus being part of the

trinity would mean that he'd be praying to himself. Haha.

Not really. To my knowledge he got pissed because, yes,

people basically had a market set up in God's house. But this

isn't really condemning the church in my opinion, just those

who run it as a money making scheme.

Well, some people believe that "once saved, always saved" if

you genuinely converted. So no matter how bad a thing you

do, you still go to heaven. We see a hole here, but they'd

counter by saying that if you genuinely believed your desire

to sin would be gone or something.

I seriously doubt that there are many Christians on totse.

Visiting a website like this is probably considered sin.

I have a friend who says that if a person is genuinely saved and has taken Jesus into his heart he won't do "bad" things. Not to say that person won't lust or things of that nature but things like stealing, lying, etc.

I wonder if people study the Word of God and take it into its fullness before saying foolish things like this.

What is prayer? Communion with God is prayer. Which means, you talk to God, God speaks back. I remember Jesus saying the following..

Matthew 7:11
If you then, evil as you are, know how to give good and advantageous gifts to your children, how much more will your Father Who is in heaven [perfect as He is] give good and advantageous things to those who keep on asking Him!

Matthew 21:21-23
21And Jesus answered them, Truly I say to you, if you have faith firm relying trust) and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, Be taken up and cast into the sea, it will be done.
22And whatever you ask for in prayer, having faith and [really] believing, you will receive.
23And when He entered the sacred enclosure of the temple, the chief priests and elders of the people came up to Him as He was teaching and said, By what power of authority are You doing these things, and who gave You this power of authority?

Matthew 26:26
Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread and, praising God, gave thanks and asked Him to bless it to their use, and when He had broken it, He gave it to the disciples and said, Take, eat; this is My body.

Mark 8:7
And they had a few small fish; and when He had praised God and given thanks and asked Him to bless them [to their use], He ordered that these also should be set before [them].

Mark 11:23-25
23Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea! and does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him.
24For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it].
25And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him and let it drop (leave it, let it go), in order that your Father Who is in heaven may also forgive you your [own] failings and shortcomings and let them drop.

Matthew 5:44
But I tell you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

Matthew 6:5
Also when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be
seen by people. Truly I tell you, they have their reward in full already

Matthew 9:38
So pray to the Lord of the harvest to force out and thrust laborers into His harvest.

Matthew 6:9
Pray, therefore, like this: Our Father Who is in heaven, hallowed (kept holy) be Your name.

Matthew 14:23
And after He had dismissed the multitudes, He went up into the hills by Himself to pray. When it was evening, He was still there alone

Matthew 19:13
Then little children were brought to Jesus, that He might put His hands on them and pray; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them

Matthew 21:13
He said to them, The Scripture says, My house shall be called a house of prayer; but you have made it a den of robbers.

Matthew 24:20
Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath.

Matthew 26:36
Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and He told His disciples, Sit down here while I go over yonder and pray.

Matthew 26:39
And going a little farther, He threw Himself upon the ground on His face and prayed saying, My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will [not what I desire], but as You will and desire

Matthew 26:41
All of you must keep awake (give strict attention, be cautious and active) and watch and pray, that you may not come into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Mark 1:35
And in the morning, long before daylight, He got up and went out to a deserted place, and there He prayed.

Mark 6:46
And after He had taken leave of them, He went off into the hills to pray

Mark 11:25
And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him and let it drop (leave it, let it go), in order that your Father Who is in heaven may also forgive you your [own] failings and shortcomings and let them drop.

Mark 13:33
Be on your guard [constantly alert], and watch and pray; for you do not know when the time will come.

God knows everything, but you don't. I just can't see how in the world you call praying retarded when Christ lived a life of prayer. Then constantly commanded his disciples to do the same.

Let's go over into the teachings of the apostles.
Acts 1:1-14
Jesus comes back teaches the disciples of things pertaining to the Kingdom of God, and says say here until you recieve the promise of the Father of the Holy Ghost, and says what will happen when the Holy Ghost comes upon them. IN 14 you can see 120 in the upper room praying and fasting how? STEADFASTLY, and then Acts 2:1-4 the promise was poured out. To ALL to come and those who were. ALL who believe. You would do good to look up the Words "Pray, prayer, ask, asked, asking" in the Word of God. You will find Jesus did it ALOT. He commanded us to do it, and the Apostles did it ALOT, and commanded the saints to do it for them, while they did it for the saints. You can't even be born-again without praying to the Father, what makes you think you can start out in speaking to the Father, and not continuing to talk to Him.

Man, imagine being married and you spouse never saying I love you. You wonder why and they say, "I married you, I figured you knew it." God does know everything, but He can't get into your life without your invitation, and He's looking for a way in by your words. Wow. Just WOW. I can't see how in the world you would call prayer retarded. You really need to stop trying to sound smart, and learn to be wise, and apply the Word of God to your life instead of being consumed by biblical information. You need SOUND biblical teaching, you need to be going to church, and getting some teaching that's SOUND, and biblical, and then you need to ASK GOD to reveal Himself to you through His Word while you read it, and expose the Truth to your heart, in Jesus name. You need revelation from the Word of God. I don't even feel the slightest bit of regret having typed this out the way I have.

I have to say this one too. Jesus said the HYPOCRITES that stand to be noticed of PEOPLE and not of God. I have to watch it. I'm trying to be nice. Let me say this though. In proper understanding of the CONTEXT, Jesus is saying LIVE THE LIFE, don't be FAKE. Work out your salvation before God with fear and trembling not before man to be seen of man. The CHURCH wasn't about before the book of Acts. The CHURCH was is CHRISTIANS, not a PLACE. What you call CHURCH I call an assembly, and I'll not go into detail because you don't know or understand the operation of the assembly, which is the BODY OF CHRIRST, which is the CHURCH. Jesus doesn't hate His own body, and the ONLY THING GOD HATES is SIN. The cross shows me how much He loves me and how much He hates SIN.

When He ran them out of the temple He said what the temple should be. The TEMPLE just so happens to be a born-again believer. :D Lovely huh? God dwells in the church. In His people, who are to be a people of PRAYER.
